Charles Spearin - The Happiness Project

He's in a bunch of interesting Canadian bands, like Do Make Say Think. This is a project where he interviewed various neighbors about "happiness", and used their voices as the starting point for composition. It's hard to explain...but here you can download one track, "Anna":

And you can stream a bunch of tracks here:

"Anna" is a good starting point to get the idea. "Mrs. Morris" is the most straightforward: the music simply follows her voice the whole time, "shadowing" it. "Vittoria" makes me laugh.

It may or may not be your cup of tea, but it's certainly interesting enough to be check out for free!

Otis Taylor, White African (CD). I'm not really a blues fan, but this is worth a listen

Creed, Live (DVD). Sound and picture quality are really good, but the music is not grabbing my attention like Human Clay does

U2 "Joshua Tree" on vinyl. I think this was their best work.

Howlin Wolf "London Sessions" on CD. Love his rendition of Willie Dixon's "Little Red Rooster"

Just picked up the Black Keys latest album, "Brother" on a double vinyl set. I listened to this tonight and this is a must get album for anyone into blues rock. I've not heard my PSBs dig as loud and hard for bass as I did tonight on this album. Buy the album and they'll throw a CD in as well.

Le Noise, by Neil Young. The video doesn't do it justice, but the CD version has some of the best heavy bottom I've heard in a while. The whole album is full of great guitar noises, dense, dense distortion and overwhelming sonic texture. The songs are good (not great though) but the sound is amazing. Now and again a song has an undistorted sound and it's almost startling. You really need to put some bricks on top of your sub when you listen to this. As I write, mine is walking around the room.
