That's funny. I don't feel obligated to prove or disprove your accusation. But, if I ever develop the sense that we're being oppressed, I'll let you know.
He just meant that you, as a Canadian, suffer from the false consciousness syndrome (link to britannica.com :p) and the best remedy for this is for you to experience some cognitive dissonance by googling for links to prove his well-meaning vague claims and figure out what he meant. It's all for your benefit, really!

This only applies if you dare to suggest, as a foreigner, that there are room for improvements in USA.

My initial comment wasn't even directed at the US. And, make no mistake, no country is a utopia and Canada has it's warts. I'm not a fan of Trudeau because I think he's made some bonehead moves, in the area of ethics. But overall, his government hasn't done too badly. And, the Conservative Party is probably going to choose a populist wanker (Pierre Poilievre) for its next leader, leaving me little choice but to support the current government.

Certainly, every country has areas for improvement, and no sensible member here thinks that you meant otherwise.

Then we have others that responds to your comment with "You've a problem in your country" and answer the follow-up question "What?" with "Google it". It's enough that it's perceived as directed towards US and not aligned with their political prejudices to have that particular "You're not American" card put on the table (never mind the geological implications here).

The Wall strikes me as sensible given we can't just let immigration run rampant without at least a background check. Trump's "They're rapists" or wanting to ban an entire Muslim country.....I'm thinking the wall is also an example of his xenophobia. Not distancing himself with Charlottesville, the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. Pretty seedy guy.

Seriously, I have no life.
Now why do you need to be mean to assholes.
I have said, for a long time, that there are more assholes in the world than people. Social media has been a breeding ground for them, too- FB, Instagram, Twitter and now TikTok.....it would be good if we could go back and prevent those from existing.

"Assholes are people, too"? :)

It was reported that a adult website wanted Billy Bob and Monic in one of their porn movies. Title was supposed to go something like this, Big B watches Monic spit.

We don't need foreigners to point out that this country needs improvement. The problem is that you guys are telling us what we need and you, specifically, are a dik about it. Also, you aren't immersed in our BS, so your opinions about real life scenarios mean absolutely nothing because of the disconnect- I don't think you would believe what happens here, so I'll post a link to the MKE police call log from one night last week..

You have commented about me listening to a scanner- there's a reason for doing that- when I hear sirens in this area almost constantly, I want to know what's happening. Early on Aug 9, I woke up around midnight and at that point, I was wide awake, so I turned on the TV, to watch until I was too bored to stay awake. I heard a siren that was close, so I turned on the app. I heard calls about a car chase and it continued coming toward this general area at a low speed after hitting the spike strips soon after leaving the highway. Then, it came very close and they were still on the major thoroughfare that's two streets to the East before turning on the street to the North of where I live, went about 1/4 mile, turned to head South and turned again, to head East. At that point. I heard A LOT of sirens and started to see the flashing lights directly in front of my house and just before I looked out of the window to see what was happening, I heard a scraping noise- this was when the lead cop used the PIT maneuver to spin the car around. When I reached the window, I saw 10-12 cops who were standing next to their squad cars, guns aimed at the car they had been chasing, yelling for them to put their hands out through the windows. At that time, I moved away from the front of my house because I was in a position where someone in the chased car could have shot through one of the windows. Fortunately, they had tossed their gun(s) and didn't make any stupid moves. They were quickly taken into custody but as they were being chased, one of the passengers called or texted his sister to tell her where he was. She showed up and started ranting about racism, how whitey kills black people with their guns (so far from the truth it's incredible) and all kinds of noise- she was REALLY loud, too. Some of us who live on this street went out to see what was happening and not long after, the sister, who was about 50 yards away, threatened to come back with a gun to kill me and burn my house- threatened some of the others, too. I asked a cop about whether she can make that kind of threat and was told it falls under 'Freedom of Speech' and that they didn't want to inflame the situation. Great- she (kind of )knows where I live- what if she's actually stupid/crazy enough to follow through or tell someone else to do it?

Ever had that happen near your house? What would you do?

We hear gunfire at night very frequently, but it comes from beyond the border this small city shares with Milwaukee but it's rare that a chase enters this area- it's easy to enter, but much harder to find a way out.
