New receiver

I need recommendations for a new receiver that can power the system below. I watch a lot of 4K content between streaming and gaming (Xbox One X). The 5.1 setup is Legacy Audio speakers and I've posted specs below where I could find them:

I don't currently have the spec sheet on the subwoofer but this is the closest I could find off a different website: Two 12" powered woofers each with a 8 lb magnet structure and a free air resonance of 18hz. Frequency Response overall is 16hz-100hz +/- 2.5db. Sensitivity is 105db. Built in amp is 200wpc and has 0-180 degree phase adjustment and variable crossover.

Any advice would be great!

Since your speakers are extremely sensitive, most mid price receivers from Denon, Yamaha or Marantz could easily work well with your system. How big is your room from and how far do you sit from the speakers?

Nice speakers.

They are very sensitive speakers and will not require a lot of power, which means almost any AVR will do.

If those were my speakers, I would get something like the Yamaha RX-A1080.

Going to the RX-A2080 or RX-A3080 would also be great if you want something "higher-end".

My room is 15x14, and I sit about 11' from the speakers

Or get a unit with pre-outs for eternal amplification, if necessary.

I'd go with Denon X3300 or higher model, should be able to handle the 4 ohms well enough but will have pre-outs if you wish to go with external amplification. How loud do you listen and what distance are you from the speakers?

While we're at it I could use speaker cable advice for the front 2 and center channel (I'm having someone come and run cable to the back of the room).

This is a hand me down system so I'm very new at all of this

Very nice speakers! If your goal is a receiver, go with something like the Yamaha RX-A2080, Denon AVR-X4500H, Marantz SR7013, NAD T777 V3 or higher models. They all have pre outs in case you need to add an external amplifier for the Classics that have the lowest sensitivity. As others mentioned, they have good sensitivity, except the L/R (the Classic). 92 dB @ 2.83 V/1m 4 ohms is equivalent to 89 dB@2.83 V/1m 8 ohms. That's good sensitivity but not particularly high so if you like reference level from 11 ft, it doesn't hurt to add a 300 WX2 power amp just for Classics.

Sufficient gauge for the length/impedance is pretty much all you need worry about. ETF copper vs OFC copper is fine, too. Aesthetics can be a different subject with speaker wire, tho. Great site for things speaker wire http://roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm

I currently own a 2007 Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi, unfortunately the R Surround speaker terminal started to create high distortion level's and I don't believe it's worth repair ( Will use as 2 CH listening ). Was a great AV for it's time.

I am also NOW looking to buy a the new Pioneer Elite SC-LX701 or a YAMAHA AVENTAGE RXA1080B.

I've noticed that Pioneer AV's are not talked much about but I really like the brand so I'd like an honest assessment overall on the Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi.

Would it change your mind if you knew Pioneer was now part of Onkyo which is now part of Sound United that also makes Denon and Marantz avrs?

I say concentrate on the features you need and get the best price on these brands plus Yamaha, maybe Sony. Many here get slightly older models to save money, or even refurbished units at accessories4less.com. Personally I think Denon has the best value for what I want. Do you need/want the 4k/Atmos latest and greatest, wireless home audio extensions, or ? What sources do you need to plug in and what speakers do you have?

I am looking at "B" Stock Inventory and I am using Paradigm Monitor 7 .V6 for my LCR's and Mini Monitor 7 .V7 for my Surrounds.
I want 4k but not interested in Auro-3D/Atmos at this time but would like all the other "latest and greatest" Technologies available including wireless/Bluetooth etc.
For the time being, I will use 4k AV passthrough for use with my Sony Bravia 4k XBR TV, two Cable Boxes, and two 1080p DVD players, finally a Yamaha dual tape deck and naturally my Computer.
Just a note: I am on a very tight budget of $2000.00, tax included.

$2000 is not a tight budget (assuming you are in US and your budget is in USD). You can get a lot of avr for that. Atmos comes with most all of it tho. There isn't much information on that AVR. I did download and read the owner's manual and also read a S&V review but no help there at all. S&V measured it's output at 1 kHz and 1% THD and the unit blew a fuse in the process. Going by what I did read, combined that with gut feeling after also reading the service manual that doesn't tell much either, I am not that impressed with it. I would bet that the Yamaha RX-A1080 is far superior even without counting the up to date features and gadgets.

I live in Canada and "B" Stock means AVR's that were floor models, customer returns, and refurbished units that come with a 3 yr. warranty. Currency wise, $2000 is approximately $1500 in U.S dollars, this is why I consider my budget to be tight.
I have considered both the Yamaha RX-A1080 and the Denon AVR-X4500H, but to be honest, I am a die hard, in regards to Pioneer Elite AVR's as my 2007 Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi has been my HT workhorse for 12 yrs.

This has been a very difficult decision making process with so many good AVR's with the latest technology on the market today. I listen to my AVR at modest to medium levels and rarely listen at reference levels as I live in an apartment building with shared walls.

The Denon X-4500H is available only as a "special order" in my area where I reside and I do not wish to order an AVR on the Internet because I'm a "hands on" consumer.

As for the Yamaha AVR RX-A1080, I have read that the Calibration program in the Yamaha is sub standard at best, whether this is true or not for 2018/19 model year, I am really unsure.

Bottom line, it brings me back to the Pioneer VSX or SC-LX series?

Thank you for any insights and opinions you may have, especially when it comes to the comparison between the Pioneer SC-LX701/801 and the Yamaha RX-A1080 AVR's.

I would go with the Denon because I much prefer Audyssey XT32 SUBEQ over YPAO. It's a fantastic AVR. Yamaha is a great brand for reliability, but I've been reading a few little grumblings about skimping a little on power supplies.

People don't talk much about Pioneer, yes. I haven't seen much myself aside from them being bought by Onkyo. They may not even be "the" same Pioneer. I'm assuming the reason is because they fall a little behind some of the offerings from the competition. I get brand loyalty, but I'm ultimately looking for performance. Nothing wrong with being a brand loyalist tho, and you could do worse than Pioneer for sure.
