This is what i already have
Emotiva LPA-1
RBH(2 x MC-6CT,1 x MC-616C, 2x MC-44C)
HSU VTF-3 MK3 With Turbo

Projector(still deciding)
Optoma HD80 (It does have HDMI but i do not think its 1.3)
or
Optoma HD803 ( This one has HDMI 1.3 )

Looking to buy a good preamp or receiver with pre outs.
Needs to have HDMI 1.3 to be future ready and so that the reciever can handle processing of the HD audio.

Preamps-
the only one i could find was the coming soon Emotiva LMC-2 ( but im not sure if i have as much time ). Any other preamps yall know off within my budget?

1.Please suggest me some HDMI 1.3 equipped receivers. Budget is around $400 to $600.

2. What are the results i can expect if i hook up a HDMI 1.3 receiver to the optoma HD80 which is older HDMI.
How is it better/different as compared to getting the HDMI 1.3 equipped HD803 since the audio would be decoded before the the signal even come to the projector at the receiver.

3.These both i believe are native 1080P 1920 x 1080 projectors, the question is do i need a receiver that up converts or passes through or does the projector do that , i need this clarified.

Thanks for all your help guys

Onkyo TX-SR705 would work well as a preamp. Does your current Onkyo have preouts? Can you hold out for the LMC-2?, because it's likely to be much better than the Onkyo TX-SR705 as a preamp.:)

I'd wait for the LMC-2, but if you can't, the Yamaha 661 is a great receiver and makes an excellent preamp.

Anybody have any ideas when the Emotiva LMC 2 is being released?

Can i connect the Oppo 981HD with its multichannel outputs directly to the LPA -1 power amp temporarily till i can get my LMC 2.

Does the Oppo have variable multichannel output? (volume control)

yes it does have multichannel outputs for all speakers , this is what says about the vloume control in the manual.

Volume Control
1. For regular audio volume adjustment, it is recommended that you use the
volume control on your TV or receiver/amplifier.
2. The VOL +/- buttons on the DVD remote control is provided as an
alternative way of controlling the audio volume. It is recommended that
you use this control to make the audio volume from the DVD player the
same as from other sources, such as TV programs or a VCR.
• Press the VOL – button to decrease the volume.
• Press the VOL + button to increase the volume.

Then yes, you can use power amplifier with it temporarily, but be careful to make sure the volume is set to low when you put a DVD in, you don't want any surprises.;) Beware that adjusting the volume on the DVD player may make the speakers pop, but that shouldn't be harmful to your amplifier or speakers, just annoying is all.:)
