New Monitor Audio Silver Series (7G)

Well this is exciting.

When I auditioned Speakers back in 2018, MA Silvers were my favorite OEM Speaker. To be fair, there were several other Speakers on my list I was unable to audition due to availability, but the Silver 500 and 300 (6th generation) performed admirably.
This early review with measurements is promising:

Previously, the MSRP of the Silver 500 was $1250 ea.
Now, the Silver 500 7G is $1600 ea.
A little rich, frankly, but the performance appears to be top notch. If these perform any better than the previous generation, they are easily worth it.

Perhaps I'll stumble on these sometime and get to hear them. For now, I'm pretty stoked to see their final refresh for the 3 main tiers of their lineup (Gold, Bronze, and now Silver (The Platinums are unicorns and I know very little about them beyond that the newer Golds are said to be so close in performance to the Plat's as to make the cost of the latter a very silly expenditure)).

Nice measuring speaker, but why measure up to 60kHz? Hopefully, the editors don't think that matters. Also, I have to wonder about reliably measuring that high. Is their mic and measurement setup really that good? I doubt it. Even a small change in setup at those frequencies would result in a major change in measurements. It's useless to measure that high for a number of different reasons.

In 1999, when Sony and Philips released the first SACD disc format, Sony put out a five speaker surround system. The SS-TW100ED super tweeter for those SACD bookshelf sized speakers were reported as having a response going to 100 Khz. That obviously was some kind of audiophoolery marketing.

A lot of Sony speakers have had super tweeters with an extended response. There was never any good reason for that response though.

Looks like that was the 6G Silver 100. It got some good reviews elsewhere in the past. Nice to see Amir's review is generally positive.

In retrospect, when I was researching speakers back in 2018, these (Silver 6G) were the one line of Speaker that I saw almost nothing negative about. In almost every review, these stood above anything else in comparison within their price class.
The Silver 500, 300 (3-way towers) and 100 (lg standmount) were generally very well regarded. The 50 a little less so.
The FX Speaker was the only one that got dogged a little. IIRC, it was said that it just didn't stand out in any way, not that it was bad, but compared to the others... there was little to rave about.
I don't recall anything about the old Centers.

Amir at ASR liked the Revel M16 better then the MA silver gen6 but that Concerta center that matches it looks like a worse bet than the Monitor Silver series center.

Just what is the significance of the naming schemes by MA as to what is up/down the line or tower/bookshelf/in-wall? I haven't seen enough to get a handle on that....

Higher numbers within the line represent bigger Speakers...
Towers: 200, 300, 500
Center: 150, 350 (I don't think they have the 150 in the 7G lineup)
Standmount: 50, 100
