Need Help With Athem 510

I have a Anthem 510 connected to a Anthem A5 Paradigm studio 100s studio 690 center and studio sub 15 and 2 sig-15-30s
the receiver has to be turned to -5 to get the volume I would like for movie sound. The receiver only goes to +10
and I am losing sound quality. I have good cables the amp should be putting out 180 watts but I don't feel the receiver is
driving the amp. The propose I had in mind was to get great sound at a lower volume. Please help I don't see any settings I can
change, is a receiver good to use as a preamp/processor would this be the issue. Had the volume problem before the amp purchase.

I think a quick first step is to do a processor reset. Press the front setup and power buttons at the same time should reset the unit to factory default condition. Instruction is on the manual page 30. If that won't do the trick then in order to save time it is best to contact Anthem. If you want to do a quick check before doing a master reset, check the mute level (manual page 23) and level calibration (page 18) in case you have it set incorrectly.

If you are not getting responses from Anthem users soon enough, try sending them (such as billy p and rnatalli) a PM.

Why do you say you're losing sound quality? What are you comparing it to?

As for the number readings, these are not a standard and listening at -5 is not a bad thing. More watts doesn't necessarially man a lower setting for your customary listening level. My Denon is around there when I'm cranking out action movies.

And, yes, a receiver can make a fine front end.

You may have checked this already:
On each speaker check the gold plated jumper and make sure to tighten all four binding posts.

OP, what is the problem??? You don't like turning the receiver up to -5??? Those numbers are arbitrary!

If you want it to "sound better" at lower volume, then you may need to look into some DSP settings or EQ (midnight loudness setting on Pios).

But, ignore that number on the display.

Or just increase the speaker channel levels to 0.0 or higher (like +3.0, +4.0, etc.). Then your AVR will sound louder even if the master volume is set to -20.0.
