Need Advice on Receiver...badly

I am in the middle of renovating a condo and recently purcahsed speakers for my surround sound system; I need advice as to which receiver would best drive them. I am trying to stay within a reasonable proce range so cost is definitely a factor. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide me...

Also, I was looking at the Denon AVR-1613 based on good consumer reviews and affordability..any thoughts?

And what might that price range be? How big is the room?

It's an open space concept (kitchen, dinner table, bar, living room), but the dedicated space to the Tv area is around 15 x 15.

As to price, I'd like to stay in the $500 range, but I am easily peer pressured when it comes to my speaker systems..usually a big mobile audio guy, but this is my first (non-prepackaged) surround sound system!

I appreciate any words of advice

Has to be the entire space that the speakers are open to, not the allocated space, since the speakers don't know the difference I think something like the 1613 should be a good starting point, but if you have a large space, you might need to step up to something a little more beefy, possibly the 1913 (or a 1912 which you should be able to find good deals on right now with the new models just out)

I also bought an open 3312 from Amazon last year. It is great. Love the network capability. It can also output 225wpc x 2ch into 4 ohms RMS @ 1% THD.

It powers my speakers (Phil3, Focal 826V, Dynaudio X32, and ATC SCM7) in 2.0 Direct without breaking a sweat in my 18' x 20' x 12' room.
