Multi channel receivers are everything those are, and more, for the same or less. Theres countless deals on receviers these days, and 500 for a stereo receiver is a waste IMO. I paid $399 way back when for my RXV440, and now I could get a 1016TX for close to the same price. Are you saying you'll never go surround? If so, I would stay away from receivers all together. Pre/pros and amps. SheepStar

The quality of amplification and sound quality simply isn't the same in a receiver as it is with a good integrated amp.

Is there a particular reason you are not using the subwoofer preout, y-combining L/R preouts, or running the speakers through the speaker-level inputs on the woofer? Very nice setup, though. When I was 16 all I had was every spare speaker I could find running off of a 100$ h/k receiver in any number of ohm-defying configurations

Bass is omnidirectional, the port and driver arrangement have little to no effect (depending on the frequencies being played, which above around 70Hz, the driver will become localizable). I dont think you made a bad decision investing in some quality cables, as your interest in the hobby grows and your system grows which im quite sure it eventually will you will already have gotten quite a few perfectly good cables that will need no further upgrading. Even though everyone thinks that 14 gauge lamp cord is all you need, theres nothing wrong with buying something thats quality made to last, and looks good. Lets face it we all want our systems to look good too. very nice on another note though, If you have those records there for cable elevators dont feel bad if deep down you think they are sort of ridiculous. I used to have some concrete brick things i used for cable elevators until i just thought to myself how stuipid it looked and admittidly i couldnt hear any difference whatsoever...I dont have them anymore

My system has some of the same gear and interconnects. I am looking forward to dealing with BJC for upgrades. For now my not so expensive cables are really "fat". I got the same deal on those Primus 250's. 1/2 Price @ COMP USA. They still go for more than that on line. Playing a DVD-A on a Denon 1920 with the Infinity's as the mains makes it seem like there is an orchestra on the other side of the wall. A WHOLE orchestra. This is my first go around with HT. Listening to gear is good too.
