Ok I watched the video and they say you can drive it on the road, but I guess what I’m asking is is it street legal in the US? $60k the shipping over seas plus other administrative costs is getting close to breaking the bank for a lot of people. Indeed it’s a nice car but I’m afraid were getting aware from reality here.

It is street legal, and it's faster then a Carrera GT on the track. Some people say "but you can't drive it in the rain and stuff" but who really would drive an exotic car or weekend toy in the rain? I know I wouldn't. Thats what Daily drivers are for.

When I was driving through Maryland on monday (or was it West Virginia??) there was a an older Lamborghini Countach ("Thats the car I think about when I make love to my wife!") filling-up at the Flying J . I tried to get a picture but couldn't find my camera.

The moral is: No matter how nice your ride is, somebody else always has something nicer.

Isn't that the thruth, down here exotics are very common place, so what folks that are into that do is pay a hefty sum to be on a list so when a manufacturer releases a new car they're in line, they'll drive it till there are"too many" on the road, then they'll sell it at a profit. You see that all the time, I remember seeing three A.M. Vanquish weeks after it was on the Bond flick, Porsche GTs: I see one every so often, McClaren SLRs, there are two in a used car dealer a mile from where I live, Gallardos are like bellybuttons, ditto with the 430s, regular Carreras and Boxsters are too many too count. Now if I could get my habds on one.

I said the busa... Hayabusa.... GSXR 1300 would be a better test to go against.

You also said that bike is slow... have you ever taken one to a track day.

I don't think my spelling is your problem to deal with unless you choose to make it so. I think it made sense, just a typo?

It's not your spelling, is just how you arrange the words. If I want to read what you wrote, or it's a reply to something I wrote, then it becomes a problem.

As for my words, the second half could be confusing, I was saying that the atom would be my dream road race car also. I just skipped the inferance, my mind drew the connection, probably because I was also thinking it.

Ah, I guess they're both rare, but the atom isn't expensive, which makes it common. If they had more people making them, I bet you'd see more.

I know what you mean, I have to proof read everything because I will leave out a word or change one to something similar. Often I'll put "to" when I was supposed to type "it".

Can you even buy an Atom at a dealership in the US? The website has lists of garage monkeys assembling them and charging $70,000, or you can build your own. I'd hardly call this car a realistic option for anyone. Also $70k would buy alot of car with, you know, a windshield and stuff. I don't forsee alot of yuppies putting on an Arai and driving this thing 45 minutes on the interstate to get to work (where you do see alot of "weekend cars" working 7 days a week.)

Also who doesn't drive in the rain? I can see why you might not take your Boxster out in a Maine january, but just some rain?!?

I remember LOVING the Countach when I was a kid and thinking there would never be a nicer car. I hated the Diablo at first, but it grew on me and is now my favorite Lambo. I can't stand the Murcialago. Not that I'd drive it off a cliff of someone gave me one.

Rain is the first step to rust, snow is the second. If you want a car to last, you keep it in a garage and only drive it when the weather is nice. The Atom would probably be pretty squirrelly in the rain due to no electronic driving aids. It would be my summer car.

What was the fastest 1/4 mile time you achieved with any of those cars?

My '02 Camaro SS turned 13.21 at around 104, bone stock down to the factory air filter and tires.

My '01 SVT Cobra ran 13.67 at around 104, again bone stock but it was a piece of junk and had to go bye-bye to the Chev dealer with only 5,000 kms on it.

One of my other favorites was a '94 Lincoln Mark VIII that ran 14.9 around 94 mph with just a chip, MAF and cold air kit, otherwise stock with peg leg 3.08 gears.

My car is 10 years old and has spent 8 years in Upstate NY. It's collected 133,000 miles up here as an all-year car. Never been in a garage or carport, ever.

Not a spot of rust anywhere on the vehicle, including body and frame.

If you want a car to last, you don't have to keep it in a garage. You just have to take moderately decent care of it.
