Mini System

Since work forces me to go back and forth between Scottsdale and San Diego I had to acquire a second domicile. The large open room is far from acoustically perfect. I also have an adjoining neighbor which limited my options.

I bought them without ever hearing them based on reviews. They exceeded my expectations. They play as clean as the Fathoms! The output isn’t as good (surprisingly close), but I only paid 1400 for the pair. They’re very clean and very tight. My great room is huge and they fill it very well. I thought about buying another pair, but you can only do so much in a condo...

$1400 for the pair new? I'm looking at those, the Velodyne SLR series, Polk MicroPro 4000, Rythmik SE12 and an Epik Vanquish.

I bought them brand new A stock on ebay for $699 ea with free shipping (triple boxed at the factory). I listened to the Velo it played clean, but didn't have enough output. I have the S6s crossed at 80hz and the sunfires blend perfectly. You're in AZ? Are you close to Scottsdale?

About three hours away, I'm south of Tucson.

That's a very good price on them, I'll have to be sure to keep them in mind when I do pull the trigger.

No they have a 120 and a 240 version.

The only thing "mini" is the Sunfire Subs and then too there are two of them, so, not that "mini" at all. Nice setup

Since you have both 6's and 8's, how do you think the 6's compare to the 8's for music. I ask because the 6's are probably a better fit for the space I would use them in. Obviously I know the 8's are the hands down better performers, but can you give me your personal opinion of how much better? Thanks!

The S6s and S8s sound identical. I do mostly movies. When the speakers are crossed at 80hz with a sub there is no difference. When I had the S8s running two channel with a pair of Bryston 7b ssts the bass extension was far better, but still not as good as the S6s with a single HRS. I think when the Signature v3s come out, I’ll stick with smaller towers (even though I hear the S10s are coming).
