I was promised D-day end of august, so as it is, D-day has been delayed 15 days already. if not for my good relationship with the dealer ... im itching to cancel the order.

I mean, I'm about to leave on my honeymoon, I'm gonna need lots of money.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get a chance to buy a lot of audio stuff when I get back despite of WAF. why? celine dion freakin tickets cost 500bucks! I don't like celine dion but I can freakin listen to her every freakin day if I bought speakers instead!

if I had more money I'd catch other shows ... but 1 show is enough (this celine dion thing is really off budget). I even suggested that I wait outside the celine dion show. of course, the answer to that was obvious.

edit: replaced my Pioneer DV 490V-S with a Pioneer DV 696.

same difference btw.

Both times they turn on the sun machine on in Spiderman 2 nearly brings the house down

I cant believe I haven't listened to the DD yet. all I've heard since last night are the buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum sweeps.

the measurement is almost exactly the same as the axiom, I'm gonna try both when I get back (same dip at around 40-50) the axiom has the 40-50 eq adjustment, maybe that will help.

I have a better response now without the the 15hz boost. i'm resting awhile, the buuuuuuuuuuuuuuum sounds are pretty boring.

but the EQ itself is indeed worth the money, if the sms-1 is just like this, its worth buying. it continuously sweeps as you adjust (I thought that after every adjustment, you press test or somethiing to sweep)

Hi Mike,

I finally found someone who does have the DV 696-AS.
Got one myself about a month up in Chicago and I'm pretty happy with its performance. Weird thing is such model doesn't even appear on Pioneer's site (which, BTW, is not a good example of what an updated site should be,though). It came dual-voltage & region-free, as a bonus.

Are you enjoying it? I am, pretty much. I came from a DV 563, so I still have SACD / DVD-A, plus HDMI & upscaling on the 696.
I do have a DV 393 as well, so I'm really done with dvd's for now.

except for some very rare video problem every now and then, it works great!
the only difference between this one and thr 490 is the 108mhz thingy on the audio side, but i dont think there's a difference on the video side.
(problem= video gibberish until I reboot the player)

what do you have it set up to? 720p or 1080i, I didnt compare the 2 but figured 1080 was higher than 720, so it was better.

well, so far the 696 performance for me has been a no-brainer at all.
I've set it to 1080i and overall image is better than 720p.

Being this my firsrt dive into the HDMI world, I'm really impressed with the overall improvement on PQ, not only with the 696 (which is HDMI), but with other gears as well (DVD 393 & Lite On DVR / VHS combo), considering they're not HDMI equipped. My AVR is a Denon 3806 and I have the HDMI monitor out to TV, so all other gears are taking advantage out of the HDMI.

Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for your 696?

When calibrating between the three, how do you accommodate for differences in frequency response?

you turn off the other 2...

and never turn them back on.

seriously, unless all 3 (or 2 for the matter) have a pretty good location, the sub in the NOT so good location will mess up the aggregate frequency response.
unless you co-locate the subs and just take the +6 in db without the smoother response benefits

so, Im using the velo DLR-5000R for my PC ...
im thinking of using the axiom EP500 as my center speaker subwoofer OR surround channels subwoofer (setting those channels to large)
