Back in the days when I listened to a lot of FM, I preferred the Revox tuners to the Quad ones....
But both were excellent.... There is a tuner in my current AVR... sitting unused!
The Revox FM tuner was also a great FM tuner. My friend Phil had one for a while. For some reason it gave trouble and he ended up getting rid of it.

Both excellent performers but opposite ends of the aesthetic spectrum - the Quad simple, compact, minimal, the Revox a cornucopia of buttons knobs and dials...a piece of pro studio aesthetic.

I miss that tuner, but I hadn't used it in a few years when I sold it on to someone who would appreciate it!

I only listen to FM at home for one thing. And that is to listen to Paul Allen and Pete Bercich call the Viking games. I have the radio on and mute the TV announcers. There is usually a delay, one way or the other, meaning could be 2 seconds early or late or even longer. But I am used to that. They are the best announcers since Madden and Summerall.

You are right on! That Revox did have gratuitous complexity, and that probably contributed to its premature failure.

You are correct that the Quad FM4 was one of Peter Walker's most famous and loved designs. it is almost certainly one of the best two FM tuner designs of all time.

The fact that the FM section of the AV 10 is of at least comparable quality I think really speakers to the quality of the design and build quality of the AV 10. I find that really encouraging. I have to say that the FM sections of my previous AVPs, had the performance of "afterthought" and put there just to add to the spec. sheet.
