At least what they're hearing has top notch sound quality. I mean it's 120-130 clean decibels.I can't imagine what that will sound like....and to think I felt sorry for your neighbors 'before' the new subs.![]()

The only time I remember feeling chest pounding sound like that, was at the drag strip, when the nitro cars are up.....or at Walters house. At least what they're hearing has top notch sound quality. I mean it's 120-130 clean decibels.![]()
The three loudest presentations I've heard were at your two houses and at a Bang&Olefsen. Their $45K rig was pretty loud. Next comes Paradigm puppy. The only time I remember feeling chest pounding sound like that, was at the drag strip, when the nitro cars are up.....or at Walters house.![]()
Rick's did get good and loud...The sub being like +10db didn't hurt either! The three loudest presentations I've heard were at your two houses and at a Bang&Olefsen. Their $45K rig was pretty loud. Next comes Paradigm puppy.
Walter, If you hear someone knocking at your door to the beat of what your playing it's just me looking for concert like sound and some high quality food!(like you can hear someone knocking at your door...Do you have a light that is triggered by a door bell?
)
We mostly watch movies in there.Rick's did get good and loud...The sub being like +10db didn't hurt either!![]()
I went with what I read in an article about sub setting for movies, and completely forgot I had it set that way.![]()
The sub and mains were clean until that one Dire straights song and then you could really tell. Where/how do you XO at? Large/small...80/60/40hz?We mostly watch movies in there.

Large & 80hzThe sub and mains were clean until that one Dire straights song and then you could really tell. Where/how do you XO at? Large/small...80/60/40hz?
The bass in movies seemed to vary, so I would tweak it (at the sub) during each movie.
I guess it was the difference between regular DVD's and Bluray.
So by the time you guys were here, it's anyone's guess exactly where it was set.
Speakers were set to large and were being driven by the Integra. xo was probably 80Hz and I think it's safe to say that it was loud. Even Sawz was saying that his dual Avaserfi Infinities didn't hit that hard down low. What a display of excess. It still makes me laugh. What's most impressive is that Marie bought them. Now that's a wife. None of that 'it's too big' bullsh!t.Large & 80hz

She knew I really liked them, and knew I'd never buy them for myself. Felt sorry for me, I guess.... since I was working 7 days a week with no end in sight.Speakers were set to large and were being driven by the Integra. xo was probably 80Hz and I think it's safe to say that it was loud. I was going to guess small and 40hz...Have you ever tried them that way? (Rick you should have a "Marie felt bad for me and look what I got" thread so we can stop polluting Alex's thread.Large & 80hz

Well, it was all on the topic of "Mantown".Pollute away ... the umpteen pages of sausage fest was no cause for concern but a couple of speaker related comments is pollution? Knock yourselves out.
... uhmmm ... when do Walter's subs show?![]()
Dunno, last time he came here he brought both of his other subs so hopefully soon so he can get some bass back. I told him I'd go with him to pick them up and I think he said end of the month, or possibly next month.Pollute away ... the umpteen pages of sausage fest was no cause for concern but a couple of speaker related comments is pollution? It's been musical chairs with rec'rs and amps around here. All low level stuff to be sure but it all has earned a place in the bang for the buck arena. I'm holding off on posting pic's until I get the living room system squared away. BTW, what is the low pass xo slope of a Yamaha RX-V663? I hope it's 24 db/octave. The Donkyo had that due to it's THX cert and it made a noticeable improvement in sub localization ... I think I said that right.Don't you have at least four new amps that you should be showing off?
Hey, you can take pictures while Cheryl is out of the house...and then hide them again.![]()
It is indeed.BTW, what is the low pass xo slope of a Yamaha RX-V663? I hope it's 24 db/octave.
You're just so much better at that stuff. Page 124? Really? That seems a little f^%&ing excessive, don't you think? Anyway that's good because that was the Onkyo's advantage over the H/K AVR 430. I haven't looked at the manual yet. Thanks. I'll sleep better knowing that.It is indeed.Page 124 of the manual. I'd call you a slacker for not looking that up, but I know that you're just being smart in asking me to do it instead.

Sounds like Cheryl found out.I'm holding off on posting pic's until my black eye heals.
