Does what it says on the tin. I am an audio beginner with no background in electronics or anything looking for advice on replacement hardware for the family sound system. We have an Onkyo TXDS595 receiver, which we have been using since the early 2000s, along with a decent set of speakers and a sub, as well as a set of outdoor patio speakers which all run through it. Audio quality is already very good and none of us are audiophiles by any means. Mainly it serves as the middle man between our television set and game consoles, DVD player, etc... and for the CD player and turntable.
The problem is that, as time has gone on, the old system does not have the right inputs to connect both old and new video hardware (e.g. no HDMI or USB ports). On the other hand, new systems seem to have moved entirely away from supporting RCA and component video input, which we still routinely use.
My question then, is whether or not anyone here knows of an AV receiver which can support video inputs from RCA all the way up to HDMI while handling the surround sound and multiple speaker sets. Is it possible to solve this problem without having two separate receivers? I'm fairly certain that this is akin to asking if any of you know where to find Bigfoot, but after reading through the forums here, this seems to be the place to ask.
