Looking to update old receiver without losing functionality

Does what it says on the tin. I am an audio beginner with no background in electronics or anything looking for advice on replacement hardware for the family sound system. We have an Onkyo TXDS595 receiver, which we have been using since the early 2000s, along with a decent set of speakers and a sub, as well as a set of outdoor patio speakers which all run through it. Audio quality is already very good and none of us are audiophiles by any means. Mainly it serves as the middle man between our television set and game consoles, DVD player, etc... and for the CD player and turntable.

The problem is that, as time has gone on, the old system does not have the right inputs to connect both old and new video hardware (e.g. no HDMI or USB ports). On the other hand, new systems seem to have moved entirely away from supporting RCA and component video input, which we still routinely use.

My question then, is whether or not anyone here knows of an AV receiver which can support video inputs from RCA all the way up to HDMI while handling the surround sound and multiple speaker sets. Is it possible to solve this problem without having two separate receivers? I'm fairly certain that this is akin to asking if any of you know where to find Bigfoot, but after reading through the forums here, this seems to be the place to ask.

Cheers.

A newer, but not brand new, receiver from the last ~6 or so years would probably do the trick.

Somewhat depends on the specific gear you want to connect but as component connections are finally starting to disappear, probably looking as suggested back a bit would work fine.

The Denon X4700H is on sale and has composite and component input ports for legacy devices and the signals can be converted and output via HDMI. There are some limitations concerning upscaling of certain resolutions and there is but one HDMI 2.1 input port for next gen consoles.

Thanks all for your replies. As you suggested, looking back in particular has yielded much more viable results. The Denon suggested above is basically the exact thing we were searching for with even greater capabilities than I would have expected. Truly you folks are a great help.

Worth looking at other models as well depending on your budget. The 3700H is a fair bit less and similarly featured.

If you don't actually need the 8K connection or 4K/120hz, then there are much more inexpensive options, such as the Yamaha TX-A780 for under $500...

It has a single component video input, and keeps a phono and composite input as well. Not sure what all devices you are connecting, but some older gear has available HDMI connectivity on it.

Or, the slightly fuller featured A1070 from Yamaha for a couple hundred more...

The 4700 from Denon is a really solid model for sure if that's within budget and makes sense for what you happen to be connecting to it, but don't think that's the only choice out there.
