.....Gentlemen, this is probably going to be my next motorcycle in a couple of years....they've only been out for about a year and there's not really a used market yet....they go for right at 16 grand new, ya' can't get them to cut a nickel, and I ain't gonna' do that for sure....this is the baddest-of-the-bad for upright-sitting cruisers with a 2300 cc three-cylinder fuel-injected power plant....that's about the displacement size of a small Toyota truck engine....I view it as a Jr. Boss Hog with 5 gears....a recent review put it up against a V-Max and a Suzuki Boulevard M109R in a 1/4 mile, and it beat both with the V-Max getting a very close second, with the Suzuki coming in a close third....Guys, put your hands together and welcome the Triumph Rocket III.....

I can appreciate it for an excellant piece of engineering, but the overall market isn't very warm to it. Honda learned the lesson with its 6-cyl Valkyrie. People don't want more cylinders or even power, people want Bigger V-twin engines.

In 1974 Harley-Davidson's 74" shovelhead was a "Big twin"
In 2007 their 96" fathead is certainly large, but smaller than the larger V-Twins available from Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Victory. And all of them are simply dwarfed by Kawasaki's 125" Vulcan. And Harley only upted the size to 96" because they were losing customers for years when their bikes only had 88".

Is America stuck in a cycle of tiny penis compensation that it can never recover from? Only time will tell..... ;)

125cu.i is compensation?

What about a 572 Hemi with dual 1050 CFM holley carbs? Or a Toyota Supra with 26 Psi of boost pushing 1100Hp?

We are men, let your man out. :D

Hemi's aren't startegically placed between your thighs.

The phalic imagery is so obvious you could poke yourself in the eye with it!

HAHAHAHAHA, how little do you know the reasons!!!

Must be that guy at work is lying his *** off.
He went to a Harley dealer, ordered a new bike with a 130 cube S&S, for a motor.
The dealer had no problem getting it that way and deleting their motor in place of the S&S. Harley and S&S would never do that now would they.

Tiny penis of American motor size????

Isnt Boss Hoss and American bike builder.
I'd think that would make the Vulcan motor like a shriveled up little penis!!
And Iron Horse doesnt make what???

HiFi, i believe you have experiences as well as Flyv. Your 'biking' accident experiences may even be more than Flyv. As you can see, sometimes we just have to lay down our bikes because we are too close to the vehicle in front of us, but somehow it's our own fault as well as we don't keep a safe distance most of the time. I, for one, will brake first THEN if my brain tells me it's won't make in in time, I lay down my bike and i will let go of it. While it all happens in a split second, i always look for ways to protect my body from hard impacts. So far, i sustained only minor injuries, never broken bones. How fast i rode the bikes? 60s may be 65s at point of impact at the most (never got a chance to really look at my speedometer when i crashed). Do we need an accident training? May be:D I am not sure though.
Darn good post & you described much better exactly what ive been talking about when needing to choose between riding it out or laying it down,im also constantly looking for the easiest way out.

I live outside of detroit michigan & work inside detroit & so far the only drivers in the usa that ive saw show more dissregard for bikers was in NYC,in detroit every driver is in a hurry & most are multi tasking,no matter how much distance you leave between yourself & the other traffic the gap will be instantly filled with a speeding car,the traffic is stop & go where speeds range from 80 mph to a dead stop within a mile, all of this in plain sight of the state police parked on the emergency turn arounds on I75.

When i taught my sons how to lay their bikes down on the dirt it gave them one more option to choose when the moment of truth is in their face.

You still can't seem to come to terms with the fact: The Screamin' Eagle® Destroyer® is NOT a legal motorcycle you can ride around on public roads with.

You think????

Lets see I've put on the roads before street rods and cars brought back from the dead.

In NY, I could easily put one of these on the road. Take the bars off the back, add a muffler, tell them its custom made, and whalla, street legal!!!

That is an impressive piece of work if based only on its size: they had one at the Bike show the year before last with a cutaway of the engine sitting next to it...heh heh, devastating. I've seen a few reviews where they've said the thing lights up back tires like clove cigarrettes at a Phish concert-you might want to allot for a regular supply of new rear tires, eh?

You should have stopped responding because this post makes about as much sense as the rest & im not sure its my emotional equilibrium thats in question here its your lack of any basic people skills.
Perhaps you should go back and read for comprehension this time, then.

Show me anywhere in ANY of my posts where i advise anybody of anything, also show me where i advocated not wearing a helmet or where i say that laying the bike down is the best or only option,i have stated that it is a skill that everybody should know not the only option or the best option.
You mean like this one?

highfihoney said:
Knowing how to lay down a bike is a nessacary skill that every rider should know how to do & yes my children wear helmets, full body leather, breast plates, boots, shin & wrist guards & all other appropriate saftey gear, knowing how to ride hard on dirt also means knowing how to take a fall.
That was from post #60, and you've said it over and over since then (advising people that there is a proper time to lay down a bike).

The point from almost all my posts was that laying the bike down is a skill no-one who rides on the street should know; it is a best a bad option, and always a more dangerous one.

You have read what you wanted to read then reacted, from the moment you saw the pic of me without a helmet you were on the attact then moving from helmets to anything else you could pick up on to respond in exactly the way you have done which is with smart a$$ comments continuing right on to my parenting skills, you have no clue as to how i raise my children & your smart remarks were not only uncalled for but totally out of line, instead of being able to admit that your comments were out of line you chose an even more snotty follow up.
I don't care if you wear a helmet or not: I consider that a personal choice in states where the option is left to the rider. Now if you go back and read my posts again you'll see I never questioned your parenting ability but your ability to teach streetriding to your children-or anyone else for that matter. If you continue to recommend what you have so far I doubt very strongly my position will change

*S&S's largest motor is the Super Sidewinder 124" Vtwin.
*If your friends bike doesn't have a Harley-Davidson motor, its not a Harley anymore, it a custom.
*Lots of Harley dealers carry aftermarket equipment.
*S&S is not a motorcycle company, they make engines & parts. So even if S&S made a 2000cid motor, it still wouldn't be a production motorcycle engine.

.....Fly, the Rocket III comes stock with 140 hp, the same as my V-Max....but, you can have the smog emission stuff removed to take it to 160 hp....you should hear the backrack of that monster at 160 hp and the pipes really throaty....prettiest backrack I've ever heard....the Triumph shop here in LR had a brand new one sitting back in the shop area one time I was over there, that had just been taken to 160 hp....the guy took the idle up to about 3 thou and held it for about two seconds....then he let go of the throttle-grip, and I wish you could have heard the amazing backrack....sounded like a big block Chevrolet with straight pipes....I'd like to have a used one in about a year, but I'm gonna' have to cripple by with a V-Max until then....(snif)....you guys extend a hand toward me here in LR for strength......

.....but didn't you link a picture of the Valkurie Rune?....that's the one I was talking about....and don't kid yourself about the new Goldwings....they've got them things geared to where they really scoot up to about 100....but it all boils down to weight divided by horsepower....huge displacement and fuel-injection have a bearing also, but give me about 4-5 pounds per horsepower with a tooth or two less gearing on the first four, and you'll see tail-lights.....

Yes, thats a Valkurie, but the 30g bike is a Goldwing, I think.

His Goldwing is one of the newer ones, 0 something, 120Hp. Thats alot for a Motorbike, regardless of weight. Now, the Yamaha R1, with 180Kg's, and 180Hp... thats hot.

As far as looks are concerned, I like Exile cycles(only a select few), and Jap bikes. HD's just look ugly to me. The big ugly motor sticking out doesn't look that nice.

Now, to open another wound, how about trikes?
