Seriously, I have no life.
But isn't a politician anyone that runs for elective office, except Trump?
Yep, he did run for a political office and job and partook in it for all this time. And with his mumbling about 2024, how could he be anything but, unless it is all financial gain for him as he pretended to be... :)

gosh , i know the GL's get dicey (Edmund Fitzgerald and all) , that's some kinda crazy .. that must have been quite the experience,, i get sea sick pretty easy(i think it's from my CP) so that trip you went on woulda been a bit much for me i think..those are great pictures of that lighthouse....
Any oceanic weather or tidal experience other than a Tsunami can be found on the Great Lakes. Especially Michigan and Superior, but also Huron. I've been in far bigger waves and weather in Huron than in any ocean. But that's because it comes up quicker. I can tell you first had, you don't want to be in 4-6' waves in Lake St Clair, or in any if the big lakes. It'll ruin your day fast..!

But my Father and Brother both were in the Coast Guard as well and stationed in both oceans and Great Lakes. And we've been on these waters of while lives, so we have a healthy respect for all waterways.

i've seen a few d.b.s pulled out of the lakes around here, and we have nothing but puddles around these parts , i know for sure that a bad day on the water can kill ya quick...

Yeah, the Big Lakes act more like oceans, with big wind and big waves. On St Clair, and Erie for the most part, the water is much more shallow and the winds swirl. This creates waves coming from multiple directions. So you can try pointing into the wind and waves, only to take broadside hits at the same time.

I've never met anyone who knows what they're doing who isn't all over the weather when they go out. And if something looks even remotely sketchy you just move. Move to no more than an hour max from safe harbor. I've been on these waters and could swear I was in a washing machine. Tossed about in all directions while trying to make headway.

It's scary, but it's also incredibly cool. Superior has by far the worst reputation for killer waters.

I was at the helm on the way back and until I knocked off a few miles per hour, my friends were fairly queasy on the first leg (before lunch) but were fine after. His wife gets car sick unless she's driving and she had no problem at night. The dog was fine, too. The search light was on and we could see what was ahead of us which is good, because the clouds covered the moon. We could still see land, too- we were about 2 miles out because it's much rougher close to shore. We were all on the fly bridge- it's worse in the cabin for those who are affected.

Wiki definition-

"A politician is a person active in party politics, or a person holding or seeking an office in government.Politicians propose, support and create laws or policies that govern the land and, by extension, its people. Broadly speaking, a "politician" can be anyone who seeks to achieve political power in any bureaucratic institution or organization ."

"Political power" is a dangerous thing when some have it. Long term political power is even worse and Congress has many members who have been in office for 30+ years. Biden entered Congress in 1973 and left only because Obama was elected and chose him as his Vice President but as VP, he was the President of the Senate, so he didn't actually leave.

The definitions vary greatly, but some of the reasons Trump ran is because, as he used for a slogan, he wanted to clean out the swamp of lifetime members of Congress, people making shady deals (look at the 2008 Stimulus package, called 'Porkulus' by many because of the many additional gifts given to corporations). He thinks many politicians are political insiders who are out of touch with ordinary Americans. I don't know if you heard about it, but after the Stimulus was written and people commented about the 2700 pages that nobody seemed to have read, Pelosi said “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”.

No, Bills are read Before ratification. Not reading them is the best way to prevent us, the citizens, from seeing what they're doing to us.

"Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Monday that he has come under increasing pressure in recent days from fellow Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), who he said questioned the validity of legally cast absentee ballots, in an effort to reverse President Trump’s narrow loss in the state. "
Lindsay Graham has no moral center or depth any more, his died in 2018(McCain)....

Saw this earlier and was somehow, equally surprised and, absolutely dusgusted. This is who SC chose AGAIN to represent them.

John McCain is surely looking down in sadness and contempt.

Nah, we bitch about them but really, how can we change them when so many people excuse themselves from voting, caring or being involved in the process? I couldn't guess how many times I have read or heard someone say "I'm not political" but I usually have some choice words for them when I hear it.

THEY set the conditions for their employment and we have nothing to say about it, other than "HOW THE EFF DID THAT HAPPEN?????????????????". Term limits and ban lobbying- those will help but we don't have any say because, again, they have allowed these for themselves and we have no referendum to vote on. The average person is unwilling to look into the details of anyone's Congressional career or voting record and this is very apparent in online "discussions"- so many comments with nothing to back them up are presented as fact when reality says otherwise.

i saw that on the news last night.. yep, it's to be expected... there are no limits anymore , it's just flat out an attempted coup.. whatever the reasons , there are no real disguises for it... i think the republican party (in it's present form) has deluded itself into believing it's own line of bullsh** about the "far left wing" being represented by a buncha hooligan rioters .. socialism *is* the wave of the future for healthcare and education.. the right wing can't stop that forever..and trying to personify "lawlessness" in the form of AOC and some other junior reps is pouring gas on the fire of unrest.. they better get to "getting along" , they aren't going to win this one.. every day that goes by the # of people that consider right wing politics as presently constituted *legit* goes down .. because they are dying off .. the under educated middle aged base is obviously easy to manipulate in thought (as proven by trump)...

My mother is still convinced 45 is an Uber successful billionaire businessman, even after I asked about her Trump steaks, and water, and tried to explain he's failed at everything.

And Dad is lost to the Rush and Fox News propaganda teat.

I add these as my proof that even beyond those who won't look at a candidate, they already firm and stick to a bias sold to them.

I suspect many families are like this.?

Right there with you.

Found out my father in law and mother in law went to a Trump gathering AFTER the election. I asked "why"? No clue, they were board.

I told my wife later "I knew they weren't the brightest, but I didn't know they were "Trump rally after he lost" dumb.

My parents and grandmother aren't any better. They've got Fox News brainwash all over them. How people can listen to them and not think "wow, that's obviously BS", but here we are.

that's the point though.. representation in govt *should* check that to some degree , and did for the middle part of the 20th century,,, now we get run over by complicit govt that's in full coordination with billion dollar corps run by billion dollar people...

Just between you and me, I've always wondered about the most basic tenets of the new GOP. I have no idea what they stand for anymore other than just hating Dems. They're not FOR much of anything lately, and more just AGAINST everything.

And even the basic ones don't make sense. I demand every personal liberty! You can't tell me what to do Big Govt.! Except for women. And especially thier reproductive rights. THEN Mr Big Govt, you can step in and tell them they have no choice..! LOL. The whole platform anymore is just Oil Gas COAL..!!!

I spent half my life in the Service, so I've voted for Republicans. I'm not one of those haters... But the last 20 plus years...? They just have nothing left but gerrymandering. And Lyndsey friggin Graham, with good old Mitch and hus Trent Lot obstructionist "Don't worry folks, we won't let them do anything..." bullsh1t

I don't agree that socialism is the way forward, though a good dose, but limited, of social democracy would would be healthy.
