Hi guys,

I am enjoying my hi-fi system for a month now and it is obvious that my sub need to be upgraded.
*note that I am a total noob when it comes to sub

The system is as follow:
FLAC files - Ibasso D7 DAC - Onkyo TX 8020 stereo receiver - Kef LS50 - Yamaha YST-SW012 sub

The system is used 90% for music. I am listening to music at moderate level. My listening area is 12' × 18' x 8'.

I need a musical sub with a small footprint and was looking at those two:

SVS SB1000
Rythmik L12

One better than the other? Should I look to other options?

Many thanks

Owning an SB1000 myself....pony up another $200 for the SB2000 and you won't have any regrets!

Love my son's SB2000 more than my own, which is what prompted him to upgrade his Sony down firing when I let him take my new sub and "break it in for me." We're both so impressed at how much better the next-level-up unit really is.

BTW, the SB2000 is only (on average) about 1-1/2" bigger in each dimension than the SB1000. These are both very compact units.

Thanks Ken,

I might put the extra $300 cdn towards the sb2000 but I don't know if I have to go there ... would you think that the sb1000 would be enough for my needs (moderate volume, "small" listening room)?

The SB1000 will easily best the Yamaha.

Depending upon where your Main Listening Position is within the room, and the shape of the room (closed on 4 sides or open to another room), the SB1000 may be enough. My room is 13.5' x 19' x 7.3' and open on the left rear side of the 19' dimension about 2/3's to an 12.5' x 10' dining area.

Under those conditions I have a dead spot of little bass in the right rear corner and need a second sub because I can find a more effective place for the one. In retrospect I should have gotten an SB2000 first and added a second. As it stands now if I upgrade to a pair of SB2000's before mid November this year I'll get full credit from SVS for the one SB1000 I've already bought. That's cool, I just hope I can save up the required funds.
