I thought the CM9 are a little weak for the Marantz setup. Those Marantz deserve at least a pair of 803S even 803D.
I agree, but I was just giving the link mostly for the simplicity of this guy's setup. And overall, it does look good in my book.

But, I'll get you another setup that matches quite well very soon. :)

* About right now. MBL speakers setup.

1,2,3,4...

This isn't a valid test IMO. Unless you do a double blind test I dont' consider it valid and the results should be determined individually. I believe one person influenced their beliefs. FR was the same? How can there be a difference if the FR is exactly the same? It's clearly psychological. ;)
Well Isiberian, you are entitled to your opinion. And that's what makes it even more challenging, isn't?

Give me just a bit of time, I'm working on some interesting approaches with various listening experiments.
This is just the beginning. The best is yet to come. :) ;)

German language & great pictures, from Area Dvd web site.

I don't know if anyone knows how to get the translation in English, but there must be a way to do that. It will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I thought that you might find these two reviews of the Onkyo TX-NR905 and TX-SR875 interesting. But it is in German from AREA DVD web site.
Nonetheless, with great internal pictures.

* Test: Onkyo TX-NR905 -> http://www.areadvd.de/hardware/2007/onkyo_tx_nr905.shtml

* Preview: Onkyo TX-SR875 -> http://www.areadvd.de/hardware/2007/onkyo_tx_sr875_info.shtml

*** My main goal here, was to show a good internal receiver design with good quality parts all around.

I am cheap, so I use Google translate that can translate text or web page. It does not do a perfect job but good enough for me.

Ahhh... So that's how you do this. But you cannot give a link with the translation, could you? Probably not?

No problem sir, here it is:

http://translate.google.com/translate_t?hl=en#

Just enter the web url onto the box, select the language to be translated, click translate and it will do the whole web pages. Let me know if you have questions. If you find something better please let me know. As I said the Google one works but no way near perfect. I am not complaining though because it is free.

I still don't get what the big deal is about Room Correction EQs like Audyssey, ARC1, etc.

I've tried room correction EQ enough times with my Denon AVR-5308CI (& HK receiver in the past) to conclude for myself that Room EQ and Dynamic EQs make absolutely no difference in my room.

In my experience, the best sound is from unaltered sound (bypassing Tones and EQs).

You are not going to change my mind.:D

Don't even try.

In conclusion, I think room correction EQ and tone controls are a bunch of gimmicks, and they suck.:p

In other words, get rid of all these gimmicks (EQs, Room Correction, DSPs, Tones, WiFi, Etc.) and just get me a pure "class-A" pre-pro or 200 wpc receiver with 10 HDMI inputs, 3 outputs, and none of that silly composite and S-video crap. :D

And that's all I've got to say about that.:p

The truth is that regardless of how flat your frequency response is, it doesn't mean your room sounds good. It only adjusts the level of those frequencies, doesn't fix the sound beyond that. So simbilance or other problems won't go away, their levels will just be adjusted. It is only one piece of the puzzle.

^ Well put it.

Hey MidnightSensi, is your receiver the Onkyo model 905?

It's a Onkyo Professional SC885P pre-amp.
Thank you, it does look exactly like the 905 from the front.

The PR-SC885P is a very nice Surround Processor.

* By the way, in your system setup, I noticed how small is your center channel. Are you happy with it? Thinking of upgrading to a bigger one perhaps? And also positioning it higher?
Just a simple observation, an idea, a conception, a view, an opinion.

Bob

Those pictures are dated, I swap equipment out a lot. I'm redoing the room right now, but I'll take pictures in a few months when its all done.

The center in that picture is a M&K THX-750. It was okay, but I'm about 80/20 music/movies, so the center takes a backseat sometimes. :)

Right now I'm using a Danley Sound Labs SH-Mini as a center channel, and its excellent. Nice and wide dispertion, 100-deg. Although its a tad smaller than the M&K S-150s on either side, it for sure keeps up without breaking a sweat.

It's sitting on top of a Danley CS-30, which makes it about level with the M&K S-150s on the left and right. Sometimes for music I'll toss my Bag End PM6s on those stands, because they have the same bolt pattern as the M&Ks...so, takes like 20seconds to change them out.

It's different all the time though. Haha

LOL. He didn't mean it, he was only teasing you. :D
We all know by now, how perfect your room is.
Well, but at least I tried because I have 4 large bass panels.

One time on this forum, a guy from one of the popular acoustic panels company told me that I should just get one panel and see if it makes a difference. I bought 4 panels. So I told him what I had done and the results. But he never responded.

I think Joe Schmoe also bought some sound panels for this room. I think he also told me he did not hear any differences. I think.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Some people like EQs, and some people don't like EQs. Just try for yourself. If it does not sound good to you, then don't use it. If it sounds good to you, then use it. There is no right or wrong here.

As for me, they are just a bunch of gimmicks to sell products.:D
