Ooh, me too!

"Do you plan to spend any (or all) of your Federal tax rebate money on your home theater system?"

Absolutely

"If so, what components are you considering – a projection screen or masking system perhaps??"

Unfortunately, no room for a projection screen. I'm looking at a 2.1 system for a secondary room. Bookshelves, sub, and receiver. (still waffling on the brands)

"How soon after receiving that check do you expect to make your purchase?"

Within a couple of weeks, or as soon as I can decide or find a good enough deal to make the decison for me. :)

I don't plan to spend my stimulus money on home theater gear. I currently have all that I need having made my "final" purchases just a few months ago.

Unfortunately No. Looks like a tankless propane water heater for me. Anyone know where to get one that has a built in DVD player or such?

"If so, what components are you considering – a projection screen or masking system perhaps??" :)
If I could yes I would love a masking system.

Tax Rebate

Do you plan to spend any (or all) of your Federal tax rebate money on your home theater system?"

Unfortunately not eligible for the tax rebate. But everyone I've asked about is definitely going to spend the money.

"If so, what components are you considering – a projection screen or masking system perhaps??"

Regardless, I am looking very seriously at a masking system and new screen. Love my current Carada BW but masking will be a major improvement as it seems all the movies I am watching lately are 2:35 or 2:40 ratio

"How soon after receiving that check do you expect to make your purchase?"

Most I've talked to have already spent in anticipation or have their purchases planned

I plan to use part of the money on my home theater.

I already bought a combo HD DVD/Blu-Ray player.

In about 6 months, I plan to purchase speakers (mains and/or 5.1) and a receiver or pre/pro+amp.

Yes, all of it

"If so, what components are you considering – a projection screen or masking system perhaps??"
I bought a new tv with the regular tax money, and bought a receiver and audio rack with the economic stimulus money

"How soon after receiving that check do you expect to make your purchase?"

Purchased the equipment as soon as I knew how much I was getting and put it on my credit card, and payed it off with the money as soon as I received it.

"Do you plan to spend any (or all) of your Federal tax rebate money on your home theater system?"

NO. I am the type that buys stuff all the time so I'm using the money to pay off the bills I already have from recent upgrades. (Just got Marantz SR7002 this past month.)

"If so, what components are you considering – a projection screen or masking system perhaps??"

If I were to spend on my HT, I would be looking at a replacement for the PS3 as my Blu Ray player. Most likely will wait on the new Sony 550 or Panasonic BD50.

"How soon after receiving that check do you expect to make your purchase?"

N/A Paying bills as soon as I get it.

I am afraid so, but I'll going to do my best to keep a lid on it!

"If so, what components are you considering – a projection screen or masking system perhaps??"
I am considering, in order, a new center speaker, speaker mounts for center and surrounds (assuming I can find appropriate ones), ceiling acoustical treatments if and when I ceiling mount any new speaker... other things that would be nice that are not under any serious consideration are another sub, bass mgmt, video arcade, video processor, popcorn machine... hehe

If anything happens it still won't be for a while... on the order of months... need to research some more!

Wow, to enter this contest is this easy? (that's it?) woo-hoo! :D

Yes.

I love my Carada screen - might need another one soon if things go the way I think they might. Beyond that, I'm looking at Blu-ray players.

>>"How soon after receiving that check do you expect to make your purchase?"

Depends on how long it takes for me to research and decide on the best purchase and right price point. I'm not an impulse buyer when it comes to the important stuff like HT.
