vs. these of which we LOVE... not one D'Appolito Array -- But TWO of them! Twice the Bang for the Buck!

Unreal sound quality from these BiPolars, so sad DT discontinued such a GREAT SPEAKER line, except for the BP7000SC's which are really not much more audibly speaking, but a lot more $$. The 7000's are really NOT worth but a couple hundred dollars more vs. the 7001's -- Period.

Def. Tech. missed the boat, when they went the other direction with Smaller Enclosures, less drivers, less weight -- and then they had the Mktg. guru's (must of been laid off from Wall Street) tell them they need to go from 7XXX series to 8XXX series, NO the 8000 Series should be 5XXX series in real truth, go and listen to them all.

ADTG said it "HELL NO" -- geez I feel sorry for some that do not look hard far and wide to find their Dream Speakers - just go by name like I did -- Klipsch is it, done for good, not quite, now DT's and purely loving them. And for sure, I would take a KLIPSCH over an Emotiva Speaker any day (I thought EMO was an AMP Mfg?).

Thanks again to ADTG for moving us into such a pleasingly nice natural speaker, that can play Rock in Roll and Loud at that, or some 1812 Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (How did you spell that, let alone pronouce it?) like you were right there.

It took about 2 minutes of auditioning my Def Techs and I was sold. As good as they are for music, I think these speakers are absolutely perfect for HT use.

They definitely need the right placement with the bipolar design, but when set up properly, they are sweet. I built a false wall behind mine to give them a bit of room to breathe.

I know people here like to mock them, but I love mine.

As everyone has said, the key is auditioning and comparing the speakers.

The right speakers are out there for everyone. But you have to compare, which can take a lot of effort and time.

Perhaps I did hastily put down those Emotiva speakers. Apologies.

As Walter says, if you have auditioned and compared and you still find that the speakers sound the best to you, then they are your dream speakers.

The last time I heard the BP7001sc and the BP7002's and to me the BP7001sc sound a bit fuller and richer than the BP7002s - and the BP7001scs seem to produce more bass than the BP7002s. One thing the BP7000 series seemed to have to my ears was a forwardness or brightness in the upper midrange/high frequencies which I liked.

There's certainly a lot of factors to consider.

All the DefTechs I've owned (BP7000SC, BP7001SC, BP10B, SM450, CLR3000) sounded great for both movies and music (classical and rock/pop).

There was an AH member who bought some EMP speakers some time ago. I can't recall his name. But he sent me a PM saying that he did not like the sound at all. He asked me about DefTech. Anyway he returned the EMP, and tried some DefTech BP7xxx speakers. He later sent me another PM saying that he totally loved the sound of the DefTech and was going to keep them.

Obviously a lot of people, including myself, have compared and auditioned other speakers, and love the sound of the DefTech speakers.

I've owned NHT as well, and I also love the sound of NHT.

So many factors. But after you've auditioned a lot of speakers, when you come across a set of speakers (whichever they may be) that sound great to you, you will know it immediately.

Did they sound fatiguing?

I don't think he ever did tell the forum what he thought of those EMPs. But he told me he hated them, and loved the DefTech.

If I had a much bigger room, I would have kept my BP7000SC. But I sold all my speakers to make room for the new speakers in my sig.

I thought my DefTech sounded great. They were very fun and exciting.

I just wanted to try other speakers.

I think the "DefTech Defender" Label falls off automatically after I've auditioned 20+ speakers.

Definition of "DefTech Defender" - a DefTech fanboy and owner of DefTech speakers who has not auditioned 20 or more different speakers. This label shall be removed as soon as he owns 3 or more world class speakers, one of which must be a Dennis Murphy design.

Since we bought the 7001's, lucky to find them, we love them. They do bring out the Mids and Highs right up front, and support the lower end with their 10"/1500W subwoofer to blend into the other octaves. They bring out the best in the reproduced sound vs. anything else we have heard in this price range.

We have moved them around 20" off of the rear wall, and that helped smooth out the reflected sound, even though the rear D'Appolito array is designed to be down -3dB from the front array, it did seem to help somewhat. We still have them toed-in around 15 Deg. or so.. but even with that the SoundStage is Very Large.

DT, went totally the wrong direction, with one less driver in the rear, less weight, smaller SW amp, smaller profile... Oh well, that is what they did scale it down, and the SQ scaled down all along with it, in the newer 8XXX series for sure. We heard the 8XXX series from 8080 to 8040 and they are no where near the SQ of the 7XXX series -- Period.
