I think your dealers in Wisconsin might be more trusting than ours in California. :)
Well, they used to be at least. I haven't asked for an in-home audition in a long time. Things may have changed.:)

Fact or Fiction?

Speaker Break-in
Your new Triton loudspeaker system should sound good right out of the box; however, an extended break-in period of 40-60 hours or more of normal playing time is required to reach full audiophile performance capability. Break-in allows the driver suspensions to work-in and crossover components to “heal,” resulting in fuller and tighter bass, a more open “blossoming” midrange and smoother high frequency reproduction.

That reminnds me, Sandy Gross' new creations may be right up DPS' alley, the Golden Ear Triton II. If they are anything like his old DT designs, they should have enough dynamic range not to embarass themselves while being generally easy on the ears. Should be easy to find a place to audition them.

Test Report: GoldenEar Technology Triton Two Tower Speakers | Sound and Vision Magazine

Great off axis response, on the sensitive side, uses the much ballyhoo'd ribbon tweet, d'appolito array (since DPS likes to obsess over these sorts of things).

Worthy of consideration?
Nice speakers, the only thing that bothers me is the cost. Dealer cost is $1400.-- for the two-tower, that's $700.-- each. How good could the cabinet, driver, amp and crossover quality be? Maybe Iam wrong.

I have brought this up to ADTG many times about what you are specifically stating.

As the Phil 3's have around $800 in 3 Drivers per enclosure, and sale for $1500, big ratio at 53% in drivers vs. sale price.

So if the Triton Twos have 5 drivers, then maybe around $475 (might be high) in driver cost per box. Considerably smaller ratio of around 38% and that might be high.

But again, how do they sound? We should be able to post in a day or two on the Triton Two's, and since they are more than the Aperion VGT's they better sound better -- or one heck of a lot better.

I would expect NOTHING Less from Sandy!!

GoldenEar’s founders and their engineering team have literally hundreds of years of combined experience and have created or helped to create many of the world’s best-sounding and best-selling loudspeakers.

Are you going to harass him via pm and call him an a hole too (like you did to me)? You should be ashamed of yourself. LOL - I'm just messing with you DPS; you can call me all the names you want. I am simply trying to motivate you to get out and listen.

Price is not a good indicator of sound.

For how he's acted in the Ascend forum and the Salk thread over at AVS, especially with people that try to help....I am not sure he is looking for help from people that are more knowledgeable, but more so validation on what he thinks.

I think he really needs to go out and listen to more speakers....and not just speakers in a certain pricepoint or with certain measurements, but just a lot of speakers in general.

Working my way thru 7 or so reviews... I like to read "What is wrong w/ the speaker -- not only the great stuff". Walter, see if you can find what is wrong w/ this picture and find some details that are a problem, ok?

Geez, if I posted what you WROTE to ME, it would show your true colors of Pink... I am far above that, and would not want all to see what you have said - might show your Real Nuance -- I should be like cschange and have heard every speaker in the world as he spends his whole day online, and tells everyone else to go and listen to everything.

Now, Walter is DAMan... we both like POWER, and Pink Floyd!! :D

Matter of act I heard the Triton's yesterday, we played everything from jazz, blues, Dire Straits, classical to Christmas music and they sounded pretty darn good for a pair of $2,500 speakers. We drove them with everything from Quicksilver Tubes, to mono blocks, different pre-amps and a plain old Cambridge 2 chl receiver and nothing seemed to cramp their sound.

Tomorrow - we hear them... heck some say they are as good as the Magico Q5's, hahahaha... what level did you drive them up to? Did they fall apart like the VGT's when you there some power into them, with those BIG monoblocks?

So, what is the downside of them, or what did you not like about them, besides a Nuance (Have to get Him Back again and again)? :D

LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE NOW? :) Geez, your getting me out of my chair and away from my flat screen here. Big day soon to audition the full flagship DT lineup, and Sandy and Don's Triton Two Towers.

Hello PENG -- well, what did you think of the FOCAL's and SIG. S8's?

So since you go out and listen to all the speakers in the USA, how do the Golden EARS TT sound? You need to get out of that chair and hear some speakers!! (Love to get you going... :D)

A word of advise don't even listen to the Focal Grand Utopia's or Sonus Farber Stradivarius, because life will never be the same.

Ya right on, price is not important at all - come on... Geez, I wonder why a Bugati costs more than a Corvette?

How many speakers are you out listening to their cschange (of course, besides Ascend...)?

Geez, have you ever heard the Aperion VGT's? How about some fine Klipsch Reference Series like RF-7II's?

Thank you for the clarification.
