Good to hear you found speakers you like. ADTG sure did like those Def Techs. Are you done with auditioning?
We do want the dealer to fire up the DT 8080's and the 8060's so we can see how they sound vs. the 7XXX series lineup we heard. We could barely hear any differences between the 7000 and the 7001 in the mid/high ranges, of course excluding the low-end SW bass outputs, with the 7000 having the larger 14" sub-woofer, vs. the 10" SW in the 7001.

I think ADTG is going to grab a pair when the price is discounted to 50%.

Wide dispersion bi polars are just like those omnis.. if the plan is to put them nearish to a wall then flat response will probably not sound as good as a taylored response... the power response dominates not the axial response because there's so much reverberant sound.

Here's a quote from someone's amazon review:

You'll never guess who wrote that
Hahaha. Very funny. Memory lane.:D

The trick was to place the active subwoofers toward each other away from the side walls.

Plus move them 12-18" from the front wall. More is better, but I think 18" is decent.

He has the 7001's with that huge center channel that has the subwoofer in it.
Is he pleased w/ the 7001's or is he still kicking himself for not getting the 7000's?

With all the great reviews on the 7001's over the years, I assume he has had them a few yrs. or so, the question that I would have is what does he NOT like about them after all the hrs. he has put on them?

The 7000's have a 14" SW that weighs a TON and 1800W, and the 7001 scaled the SW down to 10" still weighing 3/4 ton (as I lifted both SW's up but it took both arms, and I had to pray first to get the strength), and 1500W. Both these SW drivers weigh more than my Desktop Printer! The dealer has replaced one sub in both the 7000 and the 7001 due to thermal overload and smoked out the drivers -- I have no idea how they did that with the Overload Protection Cct. intact w/in. But they did - Geez must of had them up to 115dB! He said the owners had them full blast in the house, and they were partying in the backyard!! I am sure they were happy being outside.

I hope some of you can do a better translation job than Google, what is this list about?

EXCELIA HIFI - top 1000

Google Translate

Even after translation by Google I am still not 100% sure how to interpret it. For example, if "S" means stereo, what does "A" mean? Who came up with it, by user reviews or something else? The list is quite comprehensive (Paradigm not there unfortunately) and if nothing else at last it has the retail prices listed as long as the the data are from reliable sources though.
Have no idea, but closed tab on it even after translation, as it has no DT's listed. :( Maybe, they don't see DT as a real co. with a Full Anechoic chamber. :)

Have you considered a pair of Innersound Eros or the current production models by Sanders Sound Systems? Roger Sanders makes some fantastic hybrid ESL speakers.

Esoteric Junkie
What are the prices on those?

Roger's model 10 speakers are among the best I have heard heard. They're legitimately fantastic speakers. But, you have to be able to get past how ugly they are and the fact that you have a legtimate one chair listening room.

What are the prices on those?
They're $13k, but that is including his $4k ESL amp (which is a great amp) and an external active crossover / DSP.

I listened to a Mirage tower the same time I auditioned the DefTech BP7001SC.

Personally I didn't care for the mirage sound. Seemed like a lot of sound, but was not crystal clear. Could have been placement issues at the store.

I thought the BP7001SC imaged as well as any speaker I've ever heard and owned, including my present speakers.

But that is just me. Everyone must audition their speakers and compare them to as many other speakers as possible. A lot of effort and time.

But that's a lot of money also.

Better be thorough. Better be sure. Better be crystal clear sound, not muddy. Better have excellent imaging, not all over the place. Better have 3 dimensional large soundstage, not compressed tiny soundstage. Better be easy on the hears, not fatiguing after hours of listening. Better match well with your room.

I always love the "underdog" - speakers that could hang with the big boy $20K speakers, but only cost a fraction.:D

One reason I want the Philharmonic 3.:D

I think your still thinking of the 7000's and Falling asleep with them there after hours of listening to them, or are you still asleep {Laughing}.. ? :D

So what did you not like about the DT 7XXX series in all honesty now that you have all those Big Bold Statement Boxes? :D

OK, he lost me right at the UGLY part.:D
UGLY and at $13K... I will PASS up that great deal. :D

Reminds me of the Golden Ears TT - UGLY and at $2499, and no where near the details thru mids/highs that the 7XXX Series DT's put out. :D

After owning the Salon2, KEF 201/2, & Linkwitz Orion, I can honestly say that I would be very happy with the sound quality of the BP7001SC & BP7000SC.

Like the RBH T2/P, the BP7001SC & BP7000SC slightly lack the finer midrange details compared to the Orion, 201/2, and Salon2. As far as imaging & soundstage, those BP7000/7001 could hang with any of them.

Heck, at the SPL levels we play our Fronts at I doubt if I could tell any difference. My pocketbook won't reach up to your Salon 2's.

The dealer has a new pair of BP7000SC's (I am pretty sure they are Black), with the CC and Surrounds that he wants to sale as a full system -- at a much lower price for the full system, if you can use the CC and Surrounds. :)

 I must admit, I find that hard to believe. I've heard all of those speakers except the Kef's, and I'd never be able to go back to the Def Techs. No offense.

UtO... ADTG -- Nuance thinks I might be leaning the wrong way into the DT SuperTowers!! Is he right and we are Wrong?

OK, No Offense either, so where do you want to go to [no pun intended], if not Def. Tech. BP7KSC SuperTowers?

Nuance, please read Post #572... I would love your Expert Opinion and an Answer SIR!!

ADTG -- puts those DT's closer to his Revel/KEF's excluding some losses in mid-range details somewhat, but is still kicking himself that he sold his DT7000 and DT7001's. :D

Hopefully, your still not pissed off at me, LOL..., and an Audition Review Thanks would be appreciated like I have thanked you many times... [Laughing]..

You know we can't agree on everything.:D

Every room is different. Bipole/dipole/omnipole could be more difficult to place than monopoles.

Everyone who has heard the 7000SC in my room has been extremely impressed. The first thing they all noticed was how crystal clear the sound is. Large and clear.

All I know is, in my room, the 7001/7000 sounded fantastic. The sound is crystal clear. The midrange is detailed, but not as good as the Salon2, 201/2, Orion. The treble is smooth, almost as good as the other 3. I thought the bipolar soundstage is as good as the Orion. Very exciting lifelike sound to me.

I know PENG finds it impossible to believe that I thought the 7001SC sounded better than the 800D.

If DenPureSound is serious about the BP7001SC, he could ask the dealer for an in home audition just in case there is an issue with his room.

But even at the dealer, DenPureSound & his wife both said the BP7001SC sounded great.

That is why I encourage him to audition even more speakers. Only he will know for sure. His decision has to be based on his audition, not what anyone else thinks, right?:D
