Crying, bawling during movies

I dont remember crying during any of the following, but they certianly made a huge lump in my throat.

1) Brians Song
2) 8 Seconds
3) Rudy
4) I Am Legend (when he kills his dog)

Hey Tommy hope all is well. Which version of Brian's Song are you referring to? There is an older version and a much newer. I found the older version to be much better and it did bring a few tears. Have a great evening my friend.

The 1971 version. That was a great movie in my opinion. So hows the Sub treating you? Hope all is well.

Very well Tommy. It won't be long and it will be subs as I ordered a second one!!!!! I agree in that the 1971 version was awesome. That is one movie that has stuck with me most of my life. Seen it when I was around 8-years old if I remember correctly. Hope all is well my friend.

That was the most intense part of I Am Legend IMHO, presuming you are talking about what I think you are (Sam).

I saw Old Yeller as a kid and it scarred my young mind...what were they thinking? It is a great movie, but wow.

Ever been moved by an animated film? Give Grave of the Fireflies a rent - it is a powerful movie that is unlike any other animated film I've seen.

The most recent time I got teary, as someone else mentioned, was in I am Legend when he had to put down his dog. Nothing was right for the guy after that.

A surprising piece of movie weeping I recall was at the end of Return of the King. I thought a bunch of people were laughing behind me when Frodo says his goodbyes and was pissed that they wouldn't be quiet. I turned around a 3 guys, about 16 - 17 are sitting there crying their eyes out. They even sorta looked like Lacrosse guys, not the sort I expected to see with tears streaming down.

While I havent' cried in a very long time... there were a few movies that definitly put a large lump in my throat...

In Patriot when the little girl comes running after her daddy and yells, "Daddy don't go... I'll say anything daddy".. yeah... ummm... that gets me everytime.

And the end of Armageddon when the jets do the flyover... for some reason, the musical score and everything else going on at that point kinda gets me.

There's been others, but I don't remember them.

I remember crying because I shelled out 5 bucks to rent that piece of crap Moulin Rouge. I could have bought beer or cigarettes or given it to charity or thrown that fiver out the window and felt better about it. Damn that movie sucked!

Does crying out "holy crap those are nice" count? I did that every time Marisa Tomei took her top off in Before the Devil knows you're dead. It was a pile of refuse too and I'm convinced that it was merely a ruse to capture her rack on celluloid.

I couldn't take the part where Mel Gibson's character turns into a colonial ninja, taking out entire Brit army units with just a small knife. I couldn't figure out why some of them didn't just back off and shoot the guy. His character is a composite of several actual revolutionary characters, Sumpter, Pinkney and Marion (The Swamp Fox). They wanted him as Marion but the real Francis Marion was a serious racist and didn't work for the movie's PR.

There's two that stand out in my mind in particular. In Rocky III when Mick died, that got me pretty good. Granted I don't think I was even a teenager yet, but one of my friends still gives me sh!t about it.

The other was a made for TV movie "Something For Joey", a story about John Cappelletti, a running back for Penn State ( who was also a Heisman winner) and the L.A. Rams in the NFL. His brother Joey was diagnosed with leukemia, which was the focal point of the movie, being in sharp contrast to the success on the football field John achieved. While it wasn't an Oscar award winner, it was a bawler. Granted I was really young for that one too, but anyone w/a heart bigger than Mr. Burns would've felt at least a good lump in their throat, if not some water works... -TD
