This is one my favorite bands of all time:
Together with another big project by the same guy:

Seriously, I have no life.
And then there's Dread Zepplin:

Is it wrong that I can get into this music as much as the original? I can't help but get a smirk on my face listening to it!
I think they describe the group: Led Zepplin songs sung by Elvis Pressley in a Reggae style!
I walked into Summerfest one time and just inside of the gate, a group called 'Those Damn Accordions' was playing Black Dog and yes, most of the group played accordion. It was actually pretty good.

Here's another one that surprised me- first time I heard it, I was leaving Summerfest after the Savoy Brown/Wishbone Ash show and it was a perfect way to end the night.

What do you mean, 'covering Rufus Wainwright'???

That was written by Leonard Cohen.

Oh. You're right. But this brings up another discussion, one I know will not be popular. In cases where a song writer can't sing worth a shit but still grunts through a mic anyway (Cohen, for example, or Bob Dylan for another), can it really be called a cover when an actual vocalist grabs hold of the song and performs it for the first time? There's a difference between performing and reciting on pitch (or off, as is often the case).

I will concede that considerably more people have heard of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan than have heard of me, though. The socially awkward neckbeard in me struggles to understand how singers who can't sing can fill concert halls. I mean, who pays money to hear Meatloaf?

It's a cover if someone other than the original does the song. Not just the writer, if the writer hasn't performed or recorded AND released it. Also, Cohen's voice was better 50 years ago.

Ever see the live Meatloaf shows? Yeah, he's kinda weird, but it's a good show.

I'm going to sit here and wait for someone to say Howlin' Wolf couldn't sing.

BTW- Romney doesn't 'belt out' anything. Hearing him sing must be a lot like hearing Pat Boone.

Those recordings he did with American are stunning. Heard basically they said we'll tell you the songs, and you do you.

Cash's cover of Nick Cave's Mercy Seat never fails to impress me.

Incredible!

I also like Celtic Woman's version of Scarborough Fair!

Sarah Brightman's version is also stellar!

But, Yao Ti Sing's version by far the best. Just love the arrangement. :) Yao's voice is one of the best I have heard! Just saying............

Cheers,

Phil

For some reason I think Trent Reznor retired this and gave it to Johnny after he heard it. Maybe a wives tale...
