C4s (the TVs, not the explosives) are on sale right now on Amazon (I'd guess they're on sale at Worst Buy as well, but I haven't checked).

Hmm. The C3 65" is $1300. That's a pretty good deal. I'm going to have to see what the major differences are.

EDIT. Do I really NEED 144hz support? No, but I think I'd pay the extra $200 for it. Slightly higher HDR brightness is good too.

That was I think the biggest selling point on the newer C series, the brightness.

I'll add to my earlier statement, too...

While I haven't had a lot of time to spend in front of it (which is a good thing... means I'm working, perhaps too much... (for better or worse )), it really is a noticeable change from my previous set which was also rated pretty solidly, though a step below the C series.

I thought about getting a 3 if they were still available, but what I found was that the 3s were more expensive than the 4s in most instances, if even available.

Getting the C4 was a no brainer!

Oh ya, and with my Capital One partnership rebate, not only did I get it on sale, I got an additional 16% off as a statement credit for the purchase. It just took them 2 months to apply it. *shrugs

Still, a 55" c4 for under 12?!! Ya buddy!

Well I picked up LG-55"-C4 still sitting in the box, yet to unpack it. Got a very nice price for it 500 off list + taxes. I'm gonna finally get to see what Dolby Vision looks like with inky blacks and highlights that pop!!!!

Got it up and running, 1st Impression very Impressive. I won't go into detail because this is ryanosaur thread. Out of respect to his thread, I will not add any more to it other than the one photo. but yeah I can see why he picked the LG-C4.

Well I picked up LG-55"-C4 still sitting in the box, yet to unpack it. Got a very nice price for it 500 off list + taxes. I'm gonna finally get to see with Dolby Vision looks like with inky blacks and highlights that pop!!!!

I honestly didn't think I would be getting a C4 when I did this.

Also, when I really dug into what was available now, I didn't find much of anything I was thinking I would buy. Even last years Sony X90L was unavailable...

Very grateful it worked out for me the way it did!

My problem is that I was smitten by the Sony A95L when I saw one at the local Best Buy.

My rational brain is telling me (correctly) that the A95L represents a huge additional cost for a small improvement compared to a C4 or a S90C, but I can't get that "Holy cra*p, is that a good picture!" reaction to the A95L out of my head. The 77in A95L is $4,498 at Amazon right now, which is $500 less than it has been, but it's still too much for me.

@ryanosaur I have an issue with my C4. Maybe since you have this new model what are your thoughts on (Black Smear) with fast moving screens? It's horrible! Would it be because of the Processing chip? Maybe that's why Sony OLED are king. Sony OLED will cost a few dollars more. I do not want to dial back contrast on the blacks, or take it out of Vivid. I want full Nit rate for my Dolby Vision viewing. Note: I didn't have (Black Smear) with my Sony X90L. Different technology, LED plus Sony put one of it's best processing chip in that model an older chip (2019) guess it's true mini led can only get two out of 3 right over LED. May do an exchange today for a Sony A80Lor even another X90Lor Sony B7. Love the detail and inky blacks that led cant touch.

I can’t say I’ve noticed anything of concern with the few things I’ve watched. Gaming has been most impressive.

I just bought a 77" LG C4 from Amazon for $2,196 to replace a 75" Samsung Q6 that is about 6 years old. I'm anxious to get the C4 set up.

If my past track record with regards to buying TVs is any indication, the prices for the C4s should be dropping significantly in the very near future.

That was my hope last year with the c3, or even the Sony x90, but it didn’t happen. Weird year for TVs I think.

Yes, it is a manual affair with the X800M2. With DV turned ON, all 1080p and UHD/4K blu-rays video will be output using DV with the exception of non movie 30Hz Blu-ray Discs discs.

Okay ordered C4 77 from Costco. But set the delivery out a couple weeks in case I find a better deal.

Do you know what are the ideal settings for FireTV 2019 and Apple TV 4K 1st gen in terms of getting DV when available? Can they auto enable when DV is present on those Apps?

I plan to keep them on the AVR HDMI 2.0 as well as Nintendo switch (not a DV device)

I'm not familiar with the settings of the Fire TV 2019. I am using an Apple TV 4K 1st gen for most streaming duties. Many set it to output 4K SDR and then set Match Dynamic range and Match Frame rate to ON so that apps that support DV/HDR10 and 24Hz playback will work automatically. I hate blackouts when changing dynamic range and frame rates and set mine to output DV all of the time @60Hz and still manage to sleep the sleep of the just. Though, if left that way, movies on Apple Store that support HDR10+ but not DV will appear very dark when outputting DV to my LG C1. Results will vary of course.

Yeah, I have a 77 inch C4.

No issues to speak of other than adjusting the picture settings more to my admittedly odd personal preferences.

It’s a very good TV but I have to admit it was not as much of an improvement over my Samsung Q6 as I expected.

The biggest improvement is watching dark movies in a dark room (I do quite a bit of this, so it’s a nice upgrade).

I found the factory color setting to be too flat for watching sports. I suspect that this is largely due to my personal preference for unrealistically saturated colors when it comes to sports. Once I cranked the settings to absurd levels I actually like it for sports.

Is there a big difference between HDR10 and Dolby Vision on the LG OLED?

Seems like I would have to upgrade some of my streaming services to obtain DV content. LOL

TV gets delivered this week.

I updated to newest Fire Cube model and may consider updating Apple TV 4K models from gen1 to newer during any sales this fall.

The initial differences will result from the default settings for each of them. There have been some changes from the C1 to C4 so cannot speak to the C4 settings and presentation. I have found DV to be a bit warmer in color than HDR10 when settings are made as closely to the same as possible between them. Results will vary of course. My Apple TV handles most of my streaming and is set to output everything in DV. I also have DV turned ON in my X800M2 so much of what I watch there is presented in DV as well. I did get a Fire Cube gen 3 but have not used it for some time. There is still no official word on the release of the 4th gen Apple TV 4K. LG's WebOS Smart apps work well but will be limited compared to external streamers. Frustratingly, different streaming services will not support every platform in the same way.
