I would like them to succeed and test well. It is nice to have quality brands which you can recommend to family and friends who are looking for nicer sound systems.
Thanks for the reply!Crossover frequencies are 420Hz/2.8kHz on all 1528 speakers.
Two words- 'Fork Lift'.Poor James Larson! Please tell me you aren't hauling those things up your ladder?!?!? I was once a Safety Mishap Investigator for the Navy and measuring those towers has "mishap" written all over it! (But I mean if you DO measure them, we won't judge how and thank you for your dedication!)
Thanks for this Gene! I've been trying to explain to some "purely objectivists/absolutists" on forums for why you can't judge a speaker using just ONE measurement. I, like you, got tired of seemingly one anechoic frequency response being the "proof" to their "poor design" arguments or worse, many stating it's false advertising for a "full-range" speaker. Just do the math for piston area and you can see that these have more than capable bass drivers. I don't listen to measurements, I use measurements to make a decision. Psychoacoustics is also a science and it takes BOTH good electrical/mechanical engineering and solid understanding of psychoacoustics to design a great audio product. My $.02 anyway. Cheers and thanks Gene!
Hey Gene, quick question since you've heard them: would you say the 1528 towers are 2ch nirvana worthy of replacing a modest 5.2.2 living room friendly system (Goldenear & Denon AVR)? I'm contemplating giving up "home theater" for a NAD M66/M23 pairing, an Orbit Theory Turntable, and 1528 Monitor 8s. No subs, no center, just great sound (and an HDMI in for your YT opening lol.)
I believe Audioholics is going to a full review with measurements on this line I just don't know whenI am wondering if anyone who has got his hands on 1528 series ever done a measurement? please drop a link if anyone knows..I have not been able to find anything online...
Otherwise I havent seen anything with measurements on these anywhere else yetI am wondering if anyone who has got his hands on 1528 series ever done a measurement? please drop a link if anyone knows..I have not been able to find anything online...
I think Gene said they would only be doing measurements on the monitors. Soundstage does measurements at Canada's NRC chamber and they posted this teaser of the 1528 Tower 8 being tested so possibly soon they'll have a review with measurements: https://www.instagram.com/soundstagenetwork/reel/DA0sU9BO_0u/I am wondering if anyone who has got his hands on 1528 series ever done a measurement? please drop a link if anyone knows..I have not been able to find anything online...
Mr. Larson will be doing measurements, but not quite as high in resolution since the speakers can't be lifted as high due to weight.I guess the towers are too heavy for Mr. Larson to get up on his test stand. They are interesting speakers and I would have loved for Larson to do his regular measurements on them.
