My reason for asking is a friend from upstate NY that got a pair for $400 a couple of years ago and he said he was lusting after them since he heard them in the 90s.

since you like some pepper and a few drops of hot sauce in the upper mids and highs, then they can be your cup of tea ... also I believe that Bose sued them because they were using 2.2, so I think they changed the model to CS2 2

Very nice, but yes. Overpriced. It's almost like some of these guys don't want to sell their stuff very bad, or they just plain don't understand the used market. These have been in my Craigslist since I started this thread. Phasetech towers with powered bass sections for $550.

Those retail for $2150 Cdn. All of the Totem stuff is very expensive.

Well alrighty then. I've never heard a Totem before. The seller mentions that whathifi gushed over them and it had the opposite effect I think he was going for. Mentioning those guys raises red flags with me, lol.

I've heard nothing but good about the OG Thiel's. But as JZ pointed out, they are gonna be hot on the top end. A lot of manufacturers used Vifa aluminum tweeters in the 90's. I've had 3 pairs of speakers featuring them and all have left the same negative impression.

I’ve herd of them Iam thinking I seen a set of towers from them somewhere for an even bigger price too .

That is their so called famous foam woofers and mids ... and most likely had foam padding around the tweeter driver

Measurements for Totem speakers tend to always be peaks and dips

But have a fairly loyal following but the gear/setups they're often mentioned with has made me to tend to think to avoid....never sought out the measurements, tho.
