Mike, you really do love these polls:D

It was tough, even though the power crazed person in me was screaming out for the Rotel RB1092 - 500w x 2 (class d), I finally chose the Rotel RB1090 - 380w x 2 purely on specs(since I've never seen any of them in person), better Signal to Noise Ratio, 2 Ohm stable. Also it's proven technology, although D class amps are looking mighty fine

cheers:)

BTW, did you win the lottery or something;)

For some reason, I am not drawn to power amps that much. However if someone were giving it to me as a present I would pick the Rotel RB1092 as a runaway winner in the best looking category.

MACCA, no lottery winnings - just looking for something to set as a new goal :)

They are all probably equal. That RB1090 sure looks good. It would be rather hard to steal as it weighs a ton.

Parasound HALO A21 amp - 250w x 2

Rotel RB1090 - 380w x 2

Rotel RB1092 - 500w x 2 (class d)
http://europe.rotel.com/products/specs/rb1092.htm

these are roughly the same price ... but technically going from cheapest to most expensive
The Rotel RB1092. Digital has arrived; no need to wait. Better & cheaper -- hard to beat that combo. Another alternative, very much the same, would be a pair of Bel Canto e.One REF1000's ...

which is more important, straight up more watts or more capacitance?
for example ...

Parasound A21 - 250wpc with 100,000 microfarads of capacitance
or
Rotel RB1090 - 380wpc with 88,000 microfarads of capacitance

I don't like Rotel amps, they are bass heavy and sound muted in the top end.

I like the old Parasounds. Those old Parasound amps and preamps really give you a bang for your buck. I read somewhere that the new Parasounds sound somewhat different than the old ones. I would give that Parasound a try if I were you. 250 watts/channel is plenty of power to drive a pair of consumer grade speakers to ear bleeding levels.
