AIWA XR-MS3 is a bookshelf stereo that I'm using for my Desktop audio. From the specs, it outputs out 25 watts to the speakers. Is it possible to use the Infinity P153's?

Or is it better just to go out and buy a new receiver?

Or buy an Audioengine A2 or A5?

I don't think there would be any harm in trying the Infinity speakers if you could buy them with a reasonable assurance that you can return them if they fail the audition. They're 8 ohm, and the stock Aiwa speakers are 6 ohm. Unknown whether the Aiwa electronics employ any sort of contrived EQ to squeeze more range out of the bundled speakers, though. In any case, buying a new receiver or active speakers would certainly give you more headroom.

I have had good results in the past by connecting better speakers to micro and shelf system units. Try it, and if it does not work well, then you can buy a receiver or amp. Good luck. Peace and goodwill.

I tried it and the speakers worked. The AIWA was able to push out audio but wasn't able to take advantage potential of the speakers.

Here's my setup now, went with Infinity P153 speakers and Yamaha receiver.
