Have you seen the coating GM used on truck frames as far back as 1990? I don't know when they started using it but Simple Green did a great job of making that go away on my '90 Silverado. Oils will dissolve oil-based substances, like glue on various types of tape, waxes, that frame coating- even skin oil will help to remove glue from electrical tape.

I have used WD, but prefer PB Blaster. I used WD until I found out that PB is much faster.
over the years I've had good luck with Kroil

Yes, I've seen some epoxy based coatings as well. Never tried PB Blaster. I'll have to see if it's available in these parts.

Well its a cold day in Daytona and even a colder night tonight.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees are forecast, and the wind chill is in the teens, a bummer for those camping in the infield at Daytona for the 24 hr race. Race start Sat, around 58 and sunny and with a warming trend next week.,

I'll stay home as well. Just too chilly for me out in the open yesterday. Anyway, looks like Ford took the first two places in GTD-Pro qualifying. Vettes, 4th, 6th and 8th. But a long race so anything can happen.. OH forgot to add this photo from last nights cold practice

Hahaha.... some funny ones on Reddit with the Lucas oil stabilizer. Sounds like it's only good if your engine already has problems. Thought about it, but nah. Might be better than STP oil treatment though. Doesn't sound like a good idea with newer engines.

The Fords were really strong this year as were the sorry driving of the #48 BWM that caused an incident with the #4 Vette ( intentional blocking) and the 911's are always strong. .

Not a show stopper but the 86 Maxima. Crazy pristine condition. 55k. LOL when the guy opened the hood. There's hoses everywhere. V6 3000 so not much power, but all the little features worked including the voice msg saying key is in ignition etc. Velour seats look rather comfortable.

I've heard people pick the Ford 7.3 diesel or 5.9 Cummins as America's greatest engines. Any thoughts?

Both excellent and for sure the 7.3 was far better than the POS that replaced it (6.0), darn near as bad as the GM garbage from the eighties conceived out of a Olds small block I believe

FWIW my '02 Duramax was flawless, combined with the Allison transmission it was a beast, over 99,000 trouble free miles when I traded her in. Towed my race car in the summer and sleds in the winter.

Think I confused myself. The 7.3 is the Ford Powerstroke diesel. Yeah my cousin said the 6.0 and 6.4 are garbage.

I don't really get it though. I keep thinking non-diesel truck engines should go 4-500K lol. Probably components again going before the engine.

Also the 5.4 Ford Triton I heard is bad. Anything with an ecoboost I tend to steer clear from cause I dunno seems like a turbo type thing LOL.

Did it also have a Joan Rivers-ish voice saying 'The door is ajar' when the key was in the ignition?

'Power Stroke' is nothing more than the moniker Ford uses for their diesel line-up. The 7.3 was a formidable work horse that was made by International Harvester both in turbo and non turbo back in the day. Ford transitioned to their own power plant in 2002-03, the 6.0. It was plagued with injector, turbo and head gasket issues to name but a few. From what I've seen the current offering is finally worthy of the Power Stroke name tag.

I doubt you can name 3 people that have any kind of truck with that mileage on their engine. A friend of mine put 359k on his Honda Ridgeline with nothing more than routine maintenance along with an alternator and water pump replacement. That's the best I can account for.....

No I can't really say I know anyone with high mileage trucks. Guess I just think of them as meaning bigger engine=better=will last longer.

Though I have to say the urban truck don't understand why there isn't high mileage on that.
