Regardless of what he says, where does the US stand WRT education? Not at the top, for sure. Some schools turn out smat kids, some (like the Milwaukee Public Scool System), are pissing away money, not receiving money they have coming because of bad management, not maintaining buildings that are shedding dust from lead paint.....
IMO, the US needs to design a core curriculum that makes success more than possible- these classes would be required and then, if some want to study fringe areas, do it as electives. No indoctrination either way and make education in the trades easy to enter. The 'educators' who thought they knew what was best tried to send all of them to college and as we're seeing, that's not where a lot of them should have gone. Let the schools show real success, with the students coming out proficient + in math, English, writing, reading and with real world education. Then, the Federal government can provide money for training teachers, but again, not indoctrinating them. This can't be partisan because that would go nowhere.
