ABSOLUTLY POSITIVE! The JBL sub looks as though it may outperform the Boston for the price you listed, and can be used with the Boston system just fine. However, the price you listed for the JBL sub is extremely low. If it isn't coming from an authorized dealer, I wouldn't touch it.

Have any of you actually heard the JBL Studio L series? I have heard both the Boston VR series and the Studio L series and there is absolutely no contest, the Studio L's are better speakers.

Audioholics reviewed the L880 towers, look it up OP.

Can you listen to the JBL's? Don't just take anyone's word for it and listen to them first. Do you live near a Fry's by any chance?

That means nothing.

Edit: Buy the 4 L880 towers and the LC2 center but for sub order an SVS PB12-NSD. You will be a bit over budget but the sub will be worth it.

I don't see the point of the above reply.

The Bostons have 2 7" mid-woofers
One 4.5" mid
And one 1" tweeter.

Dude, JBL can't touch Boston. If it were any other two speakers, I would chalk it up as preference. But here, your reply is absurd.

If your receiver claims 145 watts, then as long as the speakers you are looking at can handle close to that, then you are ok. There is no need for you to choose a speaker because it claims it will handle 400 watts.

Or, because it has two tweeters.

There is no need to get all caught-up in power specs. A speaker system that claims to handle 50 watts each will run off of that receiver. It's not that big of a deal. Seriously.
