Now that you have a microphone, try Dirac and see if that makes difference. I use MacMini + Dirac => DAC .... I used a MOTU 8A and now an Okto DAC8 PRO.

Stay away from miniDSP - low quality and 0 customer support. I found that out first hand. Denon and Marantz are supposed to get Dirac Live this year. I would rather go that route (or any brand name with customer support).

Gave up on my own music and subscribed to Qobuz Premier (tried Amazon Music Unlimited and Qobuz Premier). Very easy to use from miniDSP SHD.

I vote for Kef R5 - for their concentric drivers. Anything with well controlled dispersion.
