I'm Scared...
You really do need to set a budget in order to get any specific advice. You could get a very nice surround system comprised of a good HT receiver, 5 speakers and a good subwoofer, along with all the cables & stuff, for $2500 or less. Or you could spend a half million dollars pretty...

MS has stated point blank that they'll never include an internal HD-DVD drive to the 360/Elite/whatever.

first post- question about turntable
You certainly could use a phono preamp. These can be obtained pretty reasonably used, and under $150 new depending on how fancy you want it. Another option would be to buy a USB based device made to rip LPs. I guess it all depends on how many LPs you have. Ripping them will be time consuming...

Panasonic PT-200 CRT projector
The Marquee is a highly regarded PJ, was something wrong with yours? The 8000's are normally pretty reliable and throw a great image- in fact, I've never heard a bad word about the PQ. Certainly a lot more work than a digital, I'll grant you that.

Panasonic PT-200 CRT projector
What size are the tubes? 7"? 8"? I've never heard of that model, guess it's pretty old. It could be worth it to mess around with but probably not if you have to pay shipping on it. That could cost $350. It's more likely that those are RGB connections if it's that old of a PJ. That's...

Optoma HD 73
I'm sure the Dark Chip3 is going to do a lot better than the HD70 with regards to contrast & black level. Plus I suspect the HD73 will have better color accuracy thru all the inputs (vs 8 bit color on some inputs for the '70). I agree it's in the middle of a crowded pack and may not be a...

Optoma HD 73
I haven't read any full blown reviews yet. My guess is that it's a good machine, based on my experiences with Optoma and the measured specs. Last I checked ProjectorPeople had one in their open-box section, with full warranty, and pretty cheap.

25K HT package
My "25k Dream System" would be basically what I already have, with the addition of the new JVC D-ILA PJ, a new 84" Carada Criterion in BW & a few GIK and RealTraps panels. If it would squeak in under budget I'd upgrade to a Meridian G68 and a 2CH amp to run the rears (my current amp is a 3CH...

how big is svs?
Yeah, I don't know why anyone would rather deal with a faceless mega-corp than a great small company like SVS, HSU, AV123, etc.:D

Upgrade my Mitsubishi HC3 to HC1000U... Worth it?
Are you bothered by DLP in general? I must have the lowest sensitivity to RBE of anyone in North American; honestly, I never see it.:o SDE is a bigger deal to me. Black levels are my fetish, and if I had a realistic way to use it I'd buy a CRT PJ. Til then DLP is the only way I can get the...

Upgrade my Mitsubishi HC3 to HC1000U... Worth it?
Wow, you're really in the minority there, Clint. I'd say that Mits makes some of the most highly regarded PJs on the market. The pro reviews and thousands of posts at AVS would seem to concur. YMMV, I guess. I'll soon see- I'll likely order a Mits DLP within a week or two. FWIW I've never...

slightly dissapointed
I'd say this place is antisnob. The brands in vogue here are pretty mainstream, Joe-Six-Pack compared to most other sites I know of. I can only think of a couple guys here with gear that costs a lot more than mine (that I know of), notably Sleestack who's got as much in his speakers as my...

8 track tape players - have you seen what the market is - Why ?
Ah, 8-Track. When I was a kid my brother and I had a bitc&in' collection...KISS, Queen, The Beatles, John Denver, & The Beach Boys! Yeah, you needed to shim them to get 'em to play, and no matter what you did eventually the player would eat one. My earliest 8-Track memory was of listening...

Whoa! Check it out- the Geico cavemen might be getting their own show!:D The blurb here says it would be about the "living with the prejudices they face while living in 2007." Guess someone here will have their TIVO ready to go!:p

Denon DVD-2200 ?
Hmmm...I dunno, Gov. I have a '2200 but I've never noticed a menu or GUI that brings up the hours on the laser. But I must also admit I've never looked for one.

DLP Projector (1080p?)
The Sharp XV-Z3000 will give you about as good a picture with as good a black level as any DLP 720P PJ I can think of. It uses a DarkChip 3 chip, and the only knock on it is it's a bit loud. The Panasonic AX-100 and Sanyo PL-Z5 are both good projectors but I'd avoid them myself based on some...
