20 Albums You Should Own, But Probably Don't

I'm not into jazz or reggae or rap..............strictly rock. Sooooooooooooo........ 1. Pink Floyd - Meddle............some wonderful mellow stuff 2. Alan Parsons - Tales of Mystery & Imagination.........great concept, well done 3. UFO - Strangers in the night..........great live...

why have towers if you have a sub as well?

In my experience the answer would be no. I brought home some Sonus Faber Concertino Homes to audition & they are a fabulous speaker with wonderful imaging..............at low to average volume. Upon turning up the volume a bit it sounded as though I was losing the high bass-low mids a little. I...

    Amp???

Do you already have a receiver (unit that your CD/DVD/Cassette/etc. plugs in to that also has AM/FM on it)? Not being sarcastic mind you, just trying to ascertain if a quality receiver with higher power output might suit your needs or if you're past that point & are just looking for more power...

Problem with integration between Yamaha receiver and Linn amp

I have an old B&K 202+ that does the same thing with my Yammy. When I turn off the amp a few seconds later I hear a "whoompf". Or when changing input sources. I've learned to live with it. I brought home a B&K 200.5 for a test drive & noticed it didn't do it.

    B&W vs. Klipsch

FWIW, I suggested the Denon 2805 to a friend looking for a new receiver ( she has Klipsch Forte's) & they pair quite nicely. The Denon powers them easily & the sound is nice & smooth. I haven't heard it absolutely cranked but at avg listening volume. If you're not familiar with Forte's, they...

    Aperion Sub Vs Velodyne

I just got the Velodyne DLS4000 (12", next up from the 3750) & I can tell you it's a decent sub. A little on the large side but very capable. Hadn't seen a 12", 200 watt sub for less ($349 delivered). Good bang for buck.

    Got a Denon 3805 for $600

Killer deal............the Good Guys in my area closed (going to be an Office Depot or Staples) & I missed it! I'm sure there was some great buys to be had.

    Canadian Customs

They've built some great golf courses up there & I'm hoping to get up there in Sept. I'm going to make one of my buddies drive though.

    Canadian Customs

I used to go up to Vancouver a couple times a year just for fun but no more. Having had my car torn apart for no apparent reason (they couldn't give me one) & then left for me to put back together, I said screw it. After waiting for 90 mins. in line to reach the border (returning to U.S.), they...

    Updating & Confused

In regards to the receiver issue, do yourself a favor & budget for $600-$900 if it's possible. The only thing your going to find in the range you listed is basic, entry level stuff which may not be a whole lot better than what you already have. You're going to want a unit that has a sufficient...

    Explain something to me....

Sophistication.....................& there's a "geek factor" involved. Easier to conform & make the wife happy. After all, it's just socks right? Could be remembered when that next upgrade is discussed. ;)

    brown note hahaha

I can't imagine the damage that's being done to a vehicle that's subjected to the kind of rumbling I hear. I don't think anyone really likes rap.........they just play it so their car will rattle & they'll get the attention they crave.

    My budget buying philosophy

I followed a somewhat similar path to get started. After splitting from the wife 2+ years ago, I started with nothing, knew I couldn't afford to get eveything I wanted right away so had to shop for bargains. Here's what I started with: Yamaha RX-V620 for $420 4 Klipsch KB1.1's for $180 on...

    Axiom Vs. Paradigm

I listened to some of the Paradigm line LY & was very impressed by the Studio series, not so much by the Monitor series. There was a distinct difference. I own the Axiom 60's & am satified. I would rank them as such: 1. Paradigm Studio 60's 2. Axiom 60's 3. Paradigm Monitor 7 But...

No problems............I learned something here. Arrogance & ignorance don't make me a savvy shopper. I really thought that all high-end audio shopping was analagous to car shopping.

Im tired of seeing uneducated buyers

Some people have no sense of quality or just don't care. I have a friend who still has a 20 YO Technics rack system, added some new (4 yrs ago) Boston speakers to it & he proudly proclaims "It cranks". He has no concept of distortion, thinks it's 230 wpc because, well, that's what it says on the...

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith **SPOILER** THREAD

Just saw it this afternoon with my kids. Overall I loved it. Can't add much except to say I agree with most of the comments others have made. We were fortunate to see it in one of the THX(?) theatres at the cinemaplex we went to. The sound was actually pretty good, but I thought they could have...
