    Running cable outside of house

Many makes of cat5 are fine if run outside...........there is really no difference in the insulation, just a tighter twist ratio of the conductors. You shouldn't need conduit..........unless what you buy has a clear jacket on it.

    $16,600 on cabling...is that a joke?

I can't believe I just read a review of a power cord......................or that the guy honestly believes his music sounds better because of it.

No Mark, they are not the same. Not close. I've had my Rolex for 5 years & it keeps great time. Keeping time can only get so good. Yes, there are many watches out there less expensive that also keep great time. What you buy in a Rolex is a nice piece of jewelry along with an excellent time...

Why don't people want help with electronics purchases?

At least he didn't blow $3000 on the same stuff with a Bose label on it ;) If he doesn't have any experience with HT he just doesn't know the diff...........after you finish your setup you can demonstrate.

    Argument with girlfriend over prize

A wristwatch? Keep it.....................problem is you've already opened a can of worms that will be hard to close. If you really like this chick I suggest you swallow your pride, apologize profusely for even THINKING what you were, keep the watch, & satisfy your HT wants another way. Unless...

Sorry...but Ive got a problem already

In the words of Joe Pesci ....."I guess the f*****n thing is busted". It does sound like a bad processor. Had a friend who had similar problem with a Yammy right out of the box.

    Power Amp ratings?

Actually, the HTR-5790 is rated from 20-20kHz. Go to www.yamaha.com & you can click on the manuals for all models & compare. I think the HTR is just their lower line which leads up to the better RX-V series. Not sure as I've never taken the time to compare each & every model.

    Another work in progress..........

It's actually quite good. It has an annoying habit of popping the speakers whenever I change sources & has a higher input impedance than my other 2 amps. But by defeating my mains by 10db (only adjustment for mains on the Yammy.....either 0 or -10) it balances out the volume for mains to...

Do I need a seperate amp?

I can hear the difference. Plain & simple. My Axioms have a more balanced & more detailed sound with amps hooked up than just fed by my Yammy 3300. No question about it. If there was no audible difference I wouldn't have wasted any more money buying additional amps.

    Newbie who needs speakers

I have just the Axiom 60's & am very pleased. After hearing them, a friend of mine gave them a call & ended up buying the Epic 50/175. Outstanding. With the size of the room you have if I had my choice I'd go with the Epic 60/350................but all considered, I think the Epic Grand...

Wiring Bose 3-2-1 GS speakers with a Yamaha A/V Receiver

With all due respect, R-Loser has a point. While you may have been using cubes for a few years w/o incident, these 321 "speakers" are, supposedly, very susceptible to being overpowered. You may wish to do some reseach @ the Bose website to check on that. Also, I read somewhere that on some of...

I need help, and no sales person will

The 80 watts per channel is just that.................80 watts per speaker, whether you have 2,4,or 5 speakers hooked up. In fact, it'll be less than that, especially with a Sony. So you'll be fine with the speakers you mention. You'll probably risk more damage to the speakers trying to turn up...
