    A dangerous thought...

Thanks to everyone for some thought provoking posts. You make good points, and I certainly wouldn't want to sell all my stuff for $1 per disc. Although to be fair, I did point out I'd keep my TV series and my top 100 or so movies. I dunno about selling yours- I'm not even sure about...

    A dangerous thought...

True. But I recently returned to school. Between fulltime school and fulltime work I only watch about 1 movie ever three weeks! And I don't see that changing within the next few years. And to give a nod to all those guys who just rent, never buy- I have a lot of movies I simply won't...

    A dangerous thought...

Well, now that HD-DVD is dead, BluRay will get it's chance to sink or swim. I believe that it will succeed, but even if it doesn't, some form of HD will. Be it downloads or discs, the days of NTSC are numbered. So I've been contemplating a drastic move lately...I'm considering selling my DVD...

    10' Pair of Speltz Anti-Cables

I also listed them on Agon. If they don't sell I'll cut 'em in half and stuff two ends into one banana, creating 5' shotgun biwire cables for my PC audio rig.:D

I finally bought and it sounds.....kinda bad.

Rereading your post it definately sounds like a placement and/or calibration issue. I don't know that sub at all, but it doesn't sound like it's integrated very well. I'd definately recommend following the steps I outlined above.:)

I finally bought and it sounds.....kinda bad.

Well, I'd try to dial it in before I gave up on it. First off, if I understand you correctly you just moved into a new place. Well, everything will sound different in a new room. You may just have to get used to it. Of course, you may need to do a bit of work. The room may have some serious...

    Stupid High-Def Format Movies...

I'm considering selling off most of my DVDs, just keeping my TV series & my top 50 or so movies. I haven't decided yet but if I do that's probably three or four hundred DVDs...

    Bye Bye, Athena

Athena was one of the best kept secrets of the audio world. It's a real shame they're axing the brand. It used to be a near-no-brainer recommendation to someone who had the proverbial champagne taste & beer budget. There are some other good inexpensive models by other brands, but few as cheap...

    Need speakers - Tight budget

Audiogon is a great option. With used there's some risk, but if you stick to sellers with good feedback you're usually safe. I've bought and sold quite a bit of stuff there with no problems (I just got a Margules Daleth Multichannle Preamp for about 1/2 what a new one cost, fwiw). You could...

    10' Pair of Speltz Anti-Cables

Okay, I realize this is probably not the ideal place to sell cables (:p), but I have for sale one pair of Speltz Anti-Cables, 10 feet long, terminated on both ends with spades. I'd rate them about an 8 on the A'gon scale; they have a few twists or bends from being stored (they're very stiff...

Toshiba may drop HD DVD within a few weeks

I'll tell you what I find really sad; I was at Best Buy today and they still dedicate almost exactly the same amount of space to HD-DVD as they do for BluRay! BB's higher ups have already announced that they'll push only BluRay going forward. Yet no firesales on HD, no surge in the amount...

Forum Personalities - I think we have a couple on this list..

Uh, hmmm...I'm not really sure what's got you so worked up, Sheep. Maybe you should sleep on it. I'd miss your unique style and worldview if you were to leave. Perhaps you should take some time to cool off. Threads go astray and things get O.T. That's no reason to toss the baby out with the...

Florida man dumped from wheel chair by the police

I hope so. The last thing a disabled person should have to expect is for the police to watch them being assaulted and ridicule him instead of helping him. Again, I realize he could have made a snide comment, but what could he possibly have said that would merit being dumped on his head? It's...

    Wendy's

I'll have to give it a shot! I don't eat much fast food but I'm a sucker for a good fishwich. My current favorite is probably the BK Big Fish; it's middle-of-the-road but pretty good for basic fast food.

Florida man dumped from wheel chair by the police

The dirtbag that dumped him on his face should be fired, then arrested for assault and battery. I don't care what the guy might have said- it couldn't possibly justify dumping a paralyzed man onto the floor. The other cop that walked by with the sh$t eating grin on his face should be...

    Denon dvd 2200

    That's a really good price! I'd buy it myself if I didn't already have 2 DVD-2200's.:D

    Treason

Saddam did his damnest to perpetuate the myth that he had WMDs. He considered it a win-win situation; the idea of WMDs was meant to deter Iran and other competitors in the region. Recently released interviews with some of his subordinates indicates that Saddam thought at most the US would bomb...

    Deteriorating CD/RWs

The quality & life expectancy of CD-R/RW's varies dramatically. Some of the very cheap brands will fade away within a couple of months! My experience has been best using discs that utilize Phthalocyanine, such as Mitsui. While I have many discs from the early days of CD-R that still play just...
