Actually, the biggest problem today has no political solution (or at least not one I can think of.) It is overpopulation. Most of the world's other issues, including pollution, war, immigration problems, resource shortages, etc. can be traced back to the fact that there are just too damn many...

That doesn't make any sense. Why would anyone refuse to admit to being liberal when being liberal is a good thing, and something to be proud of? (This country needs a lot more liberals and a lot fewer right-wingers.)

How much difference a person will notice between hi def and standard DVD is very much a function of screen size and viewing distance. I don't think I would notice on my 34" screen without practically sitting on top of it, and to see the difference on a 42" or 50" screen would likely require...

Many consumers, perhaps most (my parents for example) are both intimidated by hooking up anything complex and unwilling to pay someone to do it. Connecting a DVD player to a TV is about the most they can manage.

Please, let's not start a trend of specifying the format when discussing a movie (unless the subject of the post is unique to a particular format.) I see that getting out of hand in a hurry.:)

I saw them on the Time tour. Talk about putting on a show! The flying saucer that became a stage, the robot giving the introduction, 3D laser patterns everywhere. It is hard to find that kind of spectacle these days (outside of Vegas.) The music was great, too.:cool:

For me, the diminishing returns curve flattens to the point that it becomes effectively no returns above about $800-$1000/pr (MSRP). My Boston VR2s and my Def Tech BP10bs both cost in that range and are both excellent, as are many others in that price category. The more expensive speakers I have...

I am afraid my attitude is rather defeatist. Even in the unlikely event that the US were to become exemplary in our handling of the environment, it would do little or no good while much more heavily populated countries (especially China) continue to have no regulations whatsoever.:(

I bought a Mars Volta CD, listened to it once, and sold it at CD warehouse. They do nothing for me (and this in spite of liking some similar things, eg Tool.)
