Another savage shows his true colors.

Excellent job of "creative editing". Cutting and pasting from people's quotes while removing them from their context is not quite slander, but it is close. In some sense I already "reap what I sow" if by that you mean being disrespected by religious people. I also have to live with laws...

    Bookshelfs worth considering

I have never heard of Angstrom. Having heard a lot of bookshelves, though, I don't think I will ever be (long-term) happy with anything but floorstanders.

    French Speakers

I think I saw a positive review of those in a magazine once. Unfortunately, I can't remember which magazine or when. Still, I am sure that one can do better soundwise for less. (They do look nice, though.)

Another savage shows his true colors.

Yes, I am American. I accept that people are free to practice their religion, but that does not mean that I accept them performing criminal acts because their religion says its OK. (Oh, and FWIW I am not discriminatory: I disrespect all religions equally. Freedom of religion is great, but I...

    America's Unchallenged Youth...

Yes, it can and should. It is self-evident that murder, rape, theft, vandalism, torture, etc. are inherently wrong and should not be tolerated. Religion is not required to see this (and religion itself can be evil when it encourages people to act in such ways.)

Another savage shows his true colors.

How about the Christians who have recently been showing up at soldier's funerals saying that they deserved to die as "punishment for the US tolerating gays"? How about Catholic priests raping children entrusted to their care (and being allowed to remain in the church and out of jail)?

There is not, nor will there ever be, any belief that I respect "because it is religion".

    Best Source For Jazz CDs?

I buy as many of my CDs as possible from brick and mortar stores. There is no substitute for physically picking up the cases to look at them. What I can't find that way, I buy on Amazon.

    Metal Footings On Speakers

Yeah. It is hardly insane to make money, although doing so by preying on people's ignorance is unethical. Of course, if he actually believes in the garbage he sells, that is another matter. (I wonder if Dr. Bose actually believes in his products?)

    America's Unchallenged Youth...

I am saying that ethical judgement exists outside the context of religion, and should be developed as a natural skill. Too often, I have seen religion used as an excuse for acts that would be reprehensible to anyone who had such an innate sense of ethics. The worst part is that those who commit...

    America's Unchallenged Youth...

Wrong. It is a simple statement of the fact that kids are being taught to rely on something outside themselves to make choices about right and wrong, and the fact that this ends up being a replacement for the internal "moral compass" that they would otherwise develop. Describing the outcome of a...

    America's Unchallenged Youth...

Speaking of population control, this is an area where religious leaders could do some real good in the world, but have thus far chosen not to. If the Pope (eg) were to publicly announce: "Because the Earth has become severely overcrowded, it is acceptable and encouraged to use birth control"...

    America's Unchallenged Youth...

I have never done either of those things where religion is concerned. (I don't mind criticizing about politics because those who vote for idiots deserve what they get.)

    America's Unchallenged Youth...

"Christian values" (and religious values in general) are part of the problem. By teaching kids to turn to an arbitrary book for moral guidance, parents are teaching them not to develop and listen to their own concience. People need a sense of right and wrong that is built-in, not one that...

    Hillary Nutcracker

You have hit on the reason it is treated as an issue. Politicians don't want to answer hard questions about real issues, so they focus on trivial, irrelevant things like gay marriage as a way of distracting the public.

I AM LEGEND...any one checking it out?

I looked up I Am Legend on Rotten Tomatoes. Should be good. Now I am looking forward to the DVD.

I don't think there should be places in the world where that sort of thing is tolerated.:(

For the first time ever, I am enjoying a sub.

Whenever I listen to my Polks, it will be with the sub. This weekend, however, I switched back to my Mirage Omni 150s, and I think I prefer them overall. Unfortunately, they do not integrate at all well with the sub.
