    Turn table questions

Why not just stick to CDs, which don't have any of the issues you are concerned about, and which sound better overall anyhow? For much, much less than that tonearm, you can buy a truly stunning CD player.

What have you stopped listening to?

Good point about pop music being "disposable". The best way to summarize how my tastes have changed would be to say that I have shifted from what is "of the moment" to music that will stand the test of time. If I can't imagine listening to something in 10 years, I probably won't like it much...

Elliot Spitzer- Not So High & Mighty!!

Elliot who? Seriously, I never heard of the guy.

    Paradigm Dealers on Line?

I have never understood why some companies reduce their opportunities to make a sale like that. B&W is the same way (though they are among the only high end brands with local dealers practically everywhere.)

What have you stopped listening to?

Every so often, I sift through my CD collection and weed out the things I no longer like. Hard to remember what they all were. Except for a few perennial favorites (eg BOC, Satriani), I have stopped listening to hard rock/metal at all. I sold my Who boxed set when I realized there aren't but a...

    Favorite concert DVD's

Who else had lasers shooting from the singer's fingertips, midgets dressed as monks, or a drummer who turned into Godzilla and rampaged through the audience?:D

Looking for a CD with good drums

It is hilarious that that got censored!:D I guess we have to refer to the famous novel as "Moby Richard"! LOL.

They no longer make the 912. The closest current equivalent is the 902. Wild West Electronics carries those and the S30s, which would allow you to try both and keep the ones you prefer. The fact that my S30s are made to go with my Cambridge electronics gives me a definite bias, and makes it...

Two of us did mention his stuff.

    AV123 x-statik Tower Loudspeaker

I guess I am just one of those rare people who considers the bottom 1.5 octaves irrelevant for music. Also, not having the very deepest bass prevents room issues. I definitely prefer less bass but tighter over more bass but boomier. (Indeed, I A/Bed my Cambridge S30s and Mirage Omni 350s again...

    Have I been stood up?

Turns out she wasn't at work this Saturday. No doubt I will see her at some point, but who knows when?

Is that out on DVD?! If so, I must own it! I saw it in the theater, and it was incredible!

Given a pair of B&W 703's, what to do with them?

It would be for me. As I said, though, some consider the really deep bass more important than I do. It takes a pretty good sub to reach much deeper than that in any event.

Once again: what are you listening to now?

    Budgie was Siouxee's drummer/husband, correct?

    AV123 x-statik Tower Loudspeaker

If I were to get AV123 speakers, they would probably be the Reference minimonitors. I am so pleased with my CA S30 minimonitors that I find the concept of something almost as small but over 5X the price (from a company that offers good value) is very intriguing.

Given a pair of B&W 703's, what to do with them?

If your speakers have the same bass extension as the current 703s, then IMO you don't need a sub. Of course, I am not the kind of bass hog that some here are. I checked, and the entry-level Cambridge receiver is $100 over your budget. Too bad, as the NAD is likely about the same, and either of...

    Cuban Ham Corquetas

The obvious difference being that whiskey and sushi are potentially offensive only to the person drinking/eating them. The nasty smell of cigars gags everyone nearby. The cigar lounge is a great concept, as long as the door seals really tight and the people who go in there stay away from me for...

    Cuban Ham Corquetas

Maybe not 1/4 mile, but I do try to stay well away. As bad as cigarettes stink, they are nothing compared to the putrid stench of cigars. Even when someone is not smoking but has merely been smoking recently, the smell from their clothes and breath is offensive.

    AV123 x-statik Tower Loudspeaker

If I am going to pay $700 for a pair of floorstanders, I expect them to go a lot lower than that, especially as I will never use a sub. My tiny minimonitors go a full 10Hz lower for $220!

    Cuban Ham Corquetas

I try to avoid getting within 1/4 mile of anyone smoking a cigar. Gag!
