I am not a complete pacifist. I think that there are definitely situations in which fighting is necessary and justified. Somebody being a jerk in traffic is not one of those situations, however! Life is too valuable to risk it over something so trivial.

I love multichannel movies and concert videos. I have never had the slightest interest in it for music, though.

You say 5.0. Does this mean you don't want to use a sub? The Mirage Omnisats definitely require a sub, and the Mythos speakers with serious bass are beyond your budget.

I posted a review of them, but is worth mentioning here that I am really impressed by the Cambridge Audio S30s (sale priced at $220/pr.) If I upgrade from them, I will have to spend at least $600 for a significant improvement.

There are so many great movies out there that I can't imagine ever narrowing it down to just one. Even a "short list" would not be all that short.

Headphones are great for analysis, but I never enjoy listening to them. By contrast, I always enjoy listening to decent speakers.

There is a difference between making people think and being actively offensive. Too many movies cross that line (especially torture porn like Hostel.)

All of the Onkyo receivers I have seen are high-current and rated to drive 4 Ohm loads. This includes even their cheapest, entry-level models.

I always liked lasers at concerts. Blue Oyster Cult had to give theirs up when some idiot in the audience looked at it through binoculars.

No, I don't care. I usually have a reason to be in the lane I am in. Changing lanes is something the speed demon is welcome to do, not something they should expect me to do for them.

I have decided that I really hate ordering speakers online and waiting for them to arrive. The two bookshelves I mentioned are among the best locally available (selection is extremely limited here.) I have heard the more expensive B&Ws, and not found them worth the extra cost above the 600 series.
