Ridiculous. Of course there is a standard. If there were not, no producer could ever mix successfully, because it would be impossible to guess how the mix would translate to other systems. Without a standard, why have studio monitors at all? Might as well mix/master on Bose!

While it is obviously impossible to remember them all, I know that I have listened to various models from Mackie, Behringer, Yamaha, KRK, and Dynaudio, among others. As I said, none sounded better than my Alesis (or even different.)

Simple. They do. (Or at least the dozen or two that I have heard all do.) Again, they have to, or there would be no standard to use wwhen making recordings!

If you already have the extra wire just sitting around, biwiring won't hurt anything. That is about all that can be said for it.

I totally agree with this in theory. In practice, however, I have never heard a pair of speakers for $800 or less that sounded better than the Alesis Monitor Ones (and I have heard a lot of speakers!)

David Gilmore's Astoria Studio is on a houseboat, so you might want to check out what he did. I'm not sure if it has to be docked and connected to the grid or not, though.

I like both of those movies. Neither one ranks high on my favorites list, but I do like them (I have seen a lot of movies, so you might say they have some competition!)

I really enjoy African drumming, but every CD I have heard so far includes chants, grunts, and other "vocalizations" which severely detract from my enjoyment. Are there any good recordings with only the drums out there?

That is great! Def Tech have always made outstanding speakers, so it is way overdue for them to get some "official" recognition for it.
