    Extraordinary claims

Oh, yes. They are hilarious. In fact, they are so incredibly far-fetched that I suspect them of being some sort of "conceptual art" project, or maybe a Candid Camera style joke.

Bose=crap. This does not depend on the particular model.

Too many affordable bookshelf speakers to choose from

Aside from the fact that people occasionally use pro equipment at home, this forum is not about pro audio, so your comments are irrelevant. Also, there are easily 100 speakers using dome tweeters for every 1 using some other technology.

Domes are conventional because the vast majority of speakers use them. The designs I refer to as exotic are typically more expensive, so there needs to be something special about their sound to justify that cost. (The planars may be an exception, though, as the speakers that started this tangent...

I don't have a scale, but they feel plenty heavy for their size (remember that they are really small. 6"x9"x9".)

Like many "exotic" designs, planar tweeters strike me as a solution in search of a problem. Since well-designed conventional domes sound great, is there really any advantage to the alternative design?

What sends that shiver down your spine ??

Klipsch speakers send a shiver down my spine. Not in a good way, though. (More like the kind of shiver I get from fingernails on a chalkboard.):p

    Favorite Metal/Rock band

That looks like it would be funny. I will catch up to it eventually (I am buying and watching SNL as the full-season sets get released on DVD. Up to season 3, so far.)

    Favorite Metal/Rock band

They are the most brutal-sounding band I have ever heard. They make Skinny Puppy sound like Abba by comparison! Talented, but not my cup of tea.

    Favorite Metal/Rock band

Where did that come from? (There have been a few BOC songs that included a cowbell, but that is true of more bands than not.)

The OP specified that he was looking for minimonitors. Not sure about the Ascends, but the 162s are much too big to qualify. (In fact, this observation applies to a lot of the suggestions I have seen here.)

I searched the Audioholics member list for "Pulliam", and there isn't one. Driver size has nothing to do with speaker quality. As it happens, however, the drivers on the S30s measure 5.25", not 4".

    Got Bling?

Ugh, that sounds truly hideous. To me, even a little rap can ruin an otherwise good album. I like Blondie and Aerosmith, but would not consider owning the CDs containing Rapture or the rap version of Walk This Way. When someone is playing rap in a car next to mine, it is like they have raw...
