I had a 41-minute update when I plugged my E400 in for the first time a couple of days ago. "Ewww, let's play with the new receiver. What's this? 41 minutes...really?! Awwwww, dang it."

I am sure ADTG can also confirm the Denon AVP must have the heavy mic as well. I am a believer in heavy does not always equal better, but the 4308's mic can certainly double duty as a paper weight, with the wire cut off.

Thanks again, when I said 2 to 3X I was going by feel, never did weigh them. So now we know the heavier mic (not saying better), started with the AVP/5308 and ends with the 4308, well we don't know about the 4810, the odd ball cousin. My guess is that it probably did end with the 4810. After that Denon/Marantz seem to become more keen on reducing weight.

Yes, I did the update on the 4520. I did not check the time it took. But it took quite awhile.

Seems like almost everyone is on a diet these days.

I really hope I will be using my AVP/5308 forever.

But I am sure Denon will tempt me with something else sometime in the future. Sure as the sun will come up.

Here is my current solution to the Marantz AV8801 getting up to 126 degress when mounted in my open credenza:

The GELID Solutions Slim 12 UV fan has been wired to the AV8801 rear USB output so it runs slower and is very quiet.
The temp is now 102 F max.

Good use of the USB.

That's the real reason they made the USB input on these AVR/pre-pro.

It works automatically so long as you disable Always on Ethernet feature.
This is a strange design choice.
Also, you have to toggle the USB from the front to the rear as they are not both active.

No kidding. 126F is not good. 102F is better.

As big as the 5308 and AVP are, they are extremely cool operating @ 92F after 2h.

Of course, the USB fan is a much cheaper solution to heat dissipation.

I wonder if my 3312 has a rear USB input because I bet it's also 126F.

Actually that 5W should only produce the heat of about 0.5W resistor at the most, not that much, so I may try that on my 105 as it is getting hot now that I reduce its headroom in order to give the 8801 more. It definitely is more convenient and easier to do than using an external PS.
