Audio Power Cables / Cords - Do they really make a difference?

I'm not going into this discussion for the 35th time....

you didn't really answer my question, but answered something I didn't ask about.....

There are so many things we don't even know the first thing about, even Stephen B. Hawking is not even close to explaining some of the basic daily things around us in physics and he knows it, it's one reason why people respect him so much.

Just the thought that we know it all and can explain everything by measuring is far out if you ask me... this is an attitude that prevents progress...
I'm not gonna respond to this further as it's just a waste of time

Why not? Because you have been ineffective in making your argument in the previous 34 attempts? :)

What is a "basic daily thing around us in physics" that can't be explained?

This is not an argument about whether or not the standard model of particle physics is correct, this discussion is about the behavior of electrical conductors at relatively high voltages and current levels within the range of audio frequencies, and we're in a thread about power cords, which aren't even in the signal path. I'm sorry, haraldo, but I can't accept your explanation that somehow I'm ignorant or close-minded when your arguments to obfuscate obvious, well-understood science upon which so many working products are based are so poorly founded.

Simply, no. Not if they're trying to sell power cords.

I would hold off on that line of reasoning due to the fact that there are a lot of variables in play.

I would reduce the first variable to trying out the RCA with another cable first. For the record I'm not discounting the difference. I am curious about the difference.

There's something hilariously awesome about attaching a 3 foot length of 9 gauge cable to the end of a 50 foot piece of 14 gauge romex.
I think jonnythan summed this up nicely.

In reality its probably much more than 50 ft, more like 200-300 ft. Of course there are also numerous junction boxes, a couple of breakers and then all the wire to the pole with the transformer on it. Hard to believe (nearly impossible actually) that a short cable at the end can have any real affect.

And, these electrical laws were worked out over 100 years ago by men like Maxwell, Ohm, Watt. This is well-studied, well-understood situations, not theoretical particle physics.
 
The cable's job is to transmit the signal. If it sounds different on the other end of the cable, then it is influencing the signal in an incorrect manner IMO. If that difference is audible, then there has to be a way to measure why there is a difference, it isn't simply "magic" that the cable altered the sound.

People who "tune" their system with cables: you're doing it wrong :)

We don't need to know "all" the answers to understand some things in nature. But, that doesn't mean some will hold that against answers they just don't like. You know, "we don't know everything yet."
I don't have any answers but 2+ 2 is still 4, based on the base 10 system of math. Or, is that still on hold until we have all the answers?
 
We don't know ALL the answers, but you better believe we know how electricity flows through wire at this point :)

A better way to word it would be 2+2 is defined to equal 4.

So, if I have two coins and add two more the result is what? Or, defined means that what we see is four as the two coins is defined as two, or one, if there is only a single image of a coin on the table? Everything then is by definition, no?
 
We don't have all the answers. But we have some of them.
 
We don't need to have all the answers, but one at least we do have, i.e., a "special" power cord doesn't make a difference at all ;)
 
I would rather be beat by a std power cable than a HD power cable. The first would sting like h.ll but the other would knock me out, or break bones.

We could build a robotic arm to repeat the same swing every time. I'll bet that most people could tell the difference between 14 ga and 6 ga.
