Time to buy a gun ... again

And the recoil seems agreeable!

2 3/4" slugs out of my Mossberg 18" are quite manageable - but unload 8 quick and your shoulder knows about it.

My brother did the above, but instead of keeping the gun tight to his shoulder he let the butt slip down his bicep a little with each shot.

Black and blue and yellow!

Mike, look at the Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 - inexpensive, very reliable, and built to last!

This is a Zombie shotgun, and a proven zombie killer I might add :)

that guy looked like he was in a populated area ... and he made it rain shotgun pellets

but i'm still trying to decide between a 5.56 or .22lr M4

Colt M4 5.56 should be around 5000USD
Local M4 5.56 should be around 2800USD
Colt M4 .22lr should be around 1250USD

Colt 5.56 all the way.

Settling for less would be like you buying a 8" subwoofer with a 50 watt amp for your theater. Just don't see that happening either. :D

yeah, i kinda don't like the idea of destroying my own house because of a burglar, i don't think my next gun would be a shotgun (no matter how tempting that USAS12 is)

anyway, local rules:
-you can't buy ammunition without presenting your gun license (calibre specific)
-you officially can't buy more than 50 at a time because that's what's written on the gun license (non-gun club member)
-unless a gun club member, you can't have a .40, .45 or a .357 and more than 2 pistols and 1 rifle.

i applied for the gun club membership at the same time i picked up the .357, gun license will come out the same day i get the gun. so i "paid for and reserved" 50 .357 rounds again, to be picked up the same day.

but i had to get around that so i bought some extra, from a different gunstore who looked the other way:

the gunstore i bought the .357 from was going by the book ... they required 10x more paperwork than my other gunstore, and they required me to go to a gun safety seminar!! i skipped that but conveniently made it to the picture taking for "proof" of participation. :D

That is not much as far as ammo goes. I usually only buy 2000-5000 rounds at a time (or reloading components). Since I stock multiple calibers I feel that I have plenty to survive the food riots, or zombie attacks I guess. We don't usually have zombies here, it is too cold.

Some of the gun nuts I know have been observed to shoot 25,000 rounds in a day, and they reload 100,000 rounds at a time. It is hard to appreciate exactly how much lead that is until you help carry it! :D

how much are the ammunition there in USD?
9mm FMJ (here it's 48 cents apiece)
.38spl FMJ (here it's 52cents apiece)
.357 FMJ (here it's 57 cents apiece)

also, is there a difference between copper and brass colored tips of the bullets? from the same maker, i got two different colored tips

I've see 9mm sell for about $9.50/box at walmart, which is about 19 cents a round.

the .22lr only costs 12 cents apiece over here ... i'm seriously considering either the Walther P22 pistol or Colt M4 .22lr rifle. (i know i know, it's not "really" an m4 5.56, but we can borrow the real M4's when we do need them at work, this i can have for myself because it's cheap)

the P22 seems like a good put in your pocket/EDC/concealed weapon
the M4 just looks to be more fun :D
