I couldn't tell you I was getting a JL as I was selling the Dawg Cruser to someone with a JL...

After calibration and brief listening, I would say the JL falls somewhere in between my Servo15 and the Dawg Crusher. I think the second one will put me right where I want to be.

It's nice to see your still optimistic, thinking she'll let you get the second one after the honeymoon.
Use some of that crime scene tape to mark an outline on the floor until you get it.

I worked the 2 sub deal out upfront and she can't back out of it.

I probably should have just ordered both of them at the same time but I didn't know if I trusted my source on these so I had to throw out a tester.

I gotta say I'm impressed. I thought you were selling out for something that is a downgrade. I'd consider that a side step. The Gotham is a very nice sub and one of the few commercial subs I'd like to own.

A pair of those will be fantastic.

Speaking of deals worked out up front; many of us married guys thought we had the 3 or 4 times a week sex deal worked out upfront too.

It sounds way better than before. You can see how it is stuffed into the spot on the glass shelf. It was a little "muffled" sounding and now it's clear as a bell. It doesn't sound like people are talking from their feet so I think I am good to go. I know it's not idea but I have to work with what I have.

I just popped the first movie in and tested at -15 on the AVR, where "0" equals 75db.

Used Ratatouille as the test disc. When it got to the part where he is on the roof and it gets struck by lightening it scared the crap out of me.

The next scene is where the old lady catches them in the house and goes after them with a shotgun. The bass was incredible. It concerned me because I have never seen a woofer move so much. I thought it was going to hit me as I set on the couch.

The Dawg Crusher didn't move nearly this much and the JL and Axis have a similar excursion level. Is this anything to concern myself with or just different designs? I replayed the scenes standing right at the sub and there was no bottoming out.

I would say that this thing is closer to the Dawg Crusher than I originally thought. 2 of them is going to be sweet.

Different designs. The crazy excursion is just how it works with this unit. The shotgun scene is a pretty good one, I've had a few people (women) become visibly startled by my single F113. When I first got this sub years ago, it was fun to watch the excursion, to the point where you're just looking at the driver instead of the movie. I recommend leaving the grille on so that you can just enjoy the movie.

Oh regarding the center speaker, and if you really care enough (which you may or may not), it could* be worth asking about filling up that space with acoustical absorption material, all around the speaker itself. Then maybe just cover it up with AT fabric, though I don't really have a solution on how to implement that, but someone will . . .
