With all the people who may dislike or disagree with my views I still respect the fact that they have an opinion too, and I have never neg repped or gave an infarction for an opinion. I suspect most if not all the people I disagree with politicly would end up being some really cool people to hang around with. That's how I see it anyway.

Ah Rick... I wrote you a nice long piece basically arguing with myself from both sides of this lib/con dem/rep debate, but why bother. You'll only address one side of it, and it'll just further prove my point. But at least you made me think, so thanks. That's more than I usually get from these threads.

As it shouldn't be allowed. We should be amongst friends here, even if we don't agree with each other. That leads to healthy and though-provoking discussions. Except when someone doesn't want to "take the bait".

I suspect most if not all the people I disagree with politicly would end up being some really cool people to hang around with. That's how I see it anyway.

Hell yeah, I bet we could hit up a T&A club and have a beer together with no problem.

I think you'd be surprised at how much I think both Repubs and Dems are wrong.

If it's any consolation, I had similar opinions right out of college. As time went on I realized book learn'in and theory of how things should be, just weren't the whole truth. As important as school is, it's only a starting point.
I've found that few of the Left leaning beliefs I learned in school, just don't hold up to a true litmus test. They did sound good though.

Interesting, my college experience was just the opposite. I was fed more right-leaning beliefs than left, and my job is WAY more of the same, but neither resonated with me. It all screams "narrowminded" to me. I'm more of a chinese menu kinda guy. "Some from column A, some from column B, but can you sub this for that and that for the other thing." I like a lil chaos in my diet. Ok, a whole lotta chaos.

Not mine, 80 percent or better of mine have been left leaning libs from the tolerable and reasonable to complete socialist in one case. Interestingly he gave me an A+ both times I had him for ehtics and sociology. Oh well only one more semester left woo hoo!

Virtually every college I've ever encountered or attended, have pushed the liberal left side since the late 60's. Having talked to their students/graduates, they have been so inculcated with left-wing liberal pablum that it's a miracle any free thought survived.

As for your job, you said work for the government, don't you? If so, that would be a matter of survival. Would you really bite the hand that feeds you?

Both parties suck. The Republican party stinks, while the Democratic party stinks on ice. I'd love to see every member of Congress voted out of office. We'd loose a few good ones (very few) but it would be worth it to be rid of the diseased carcass that is the United States Congress.
