Didn't see a thread for the newly released Star Trek, so here. Got mine yesterday via Amazon, looking forward to watching it to night with some friends.

YOU ARE NUTS!!! There is NO way that that movie tops Wrath of Khan. It was a decent movie, but not even close to being the best one. I would say that The Undiscovered Country and even Nemesis are better.

even Nemesis are better.
Are you kidding me? Such a statement should be retracted as Nemesis was a terrible rendition of the Start Trek TNG series. First Contact and the Wrath of Kahn were both superior films, but that doesn't take away from the excellence of this film. The story line was lame, but the actors did an excellent job of portraying their characters and that alone makes this a good Star Trek film.

Nemesis is so far outside of Canon that it should be stricken from the record of the series. Also in light of recent films. It's pretty good actually.

Definitely watch the Wrath of Kahn.

First Contact requires watching the TNG series to fully enjoy and understand.

And how about PQ? I saw this in the theater and loved it. The BD is pretty much all I'm asking for for the holidays... well that and the complete hard-bound Calvin and Hobbes... but mostly Star Trek.

I would have ordered this already, but my friend said she's buying it for me (I think so that she can be guaranteed to have a seat, with friends, at the viewing). I hope she knows it's released. Maybe I'll go bug her.

I loved this movie. I'm not a hardcore trekkie, but I've pretty much watched all of them (except for the original series). I grew up watching the original movies (and purchased the Blu-ray set when they released it), then when NG came out I watched all of them (and have purchased the NG Blu-Ray set as well), I watched all of Deep Space 9, most of Voyager, and only a couple episodes of the series that was showing a young kirk just starting out. I enjoy them all, but I don't go to conventions or have any federation uniforms.

I really enjoyed what they did with the story and have pretty much set it up to do anything they want (even do stuff over but differently due to the altered reality). I watched the Blu-ray last night and just got immursed in the audio and the beauty of the video. I was also happy to read that the major cast members have signed on for at least 2 sequals and it appears that JJ Abrams and the same writers will be part of them as well. I'm excited to see where they take it.

I watched the BD last night. Awesome! The picture and sound are amazing. My first thought was that I wish I had a bigger TV and I was sitting 6' away from my 50' plasma.

I think I spotted R2D2, he's in the wreckage above Vulcan when the Enterprise drops out of warp.

Watching it tonight. Watched the opening scene last night. Pretty good sound, though the TrueHD track did not bowl me over. Kind of like the first Transformers. Good, but not spectacular, though I will reserve my opinion until I've watched the whole thing.

I liked it a lot, but I don't think it is as great as so many have hyped it up to be. I liked that there was plenty of homage to the original series while bringing in some new elements. The story was good, the PQ was solid and the audio was very good. I also would not put this among my favorite Trek movies, but there was definitely a lot of nostalgia there at the same time :)

I watched it last night as well.. ( i saw it in the theater first) and even a second time I thought it was great!! i liek that its new and you dont have to be a trekkie to really like it.

I thought the SQ was very very good and the PQ was also pretty good.. I only have a rear proj with 1080i so that may be a limiting factor

When I watch a Star Trek movie I want to see cool spaceship battles. Nemesis had this in spades. Sure the whole B-4 plot line was stupid, but the battles are part of what make Wrath of Khan and Nemesis both good Trek movies in my opinion. The plot of this latest movie was assinine. Gimme a break, some Romulan dude comes back in time to change the entire Star Trek timeline?!?!? And the only real spaceship battle was in the beginning and even that one was kinda lame because you had music going over it instead of hearing the sound effects of the fight.

Sorry, but this movie was WEAK.
